All five women approached the Council together because they all had a hand in her creation. Aphrodite was hesitant because she knew this girls existence would create conflict, and she hated it when people fought. She was also afraid that because the girls existence was unauthorized, that she would be sentenced to death. Athena assured her that nothing would happen to the girl. "In fact, she said, this girl will be revered because of her affinity for Spirit." The others all agreed with Athena, and as they approached the center of the room Selene signaled for them to be quiet. Once Selene had the attention of everyone in the room, she began her story. When she finished her story Zeus became enraged.

Selene had refused to assist the rest of Olympus when they overtook the Titans, and again when Zeus tricked his brother Hades into ruling the Underworld, effectively imprisoning him in the world of the dead. She didn't care for the politics or constant infighting that surrounded the greater Gods of Olympus, so she distanced herself from them at all costs. Her undead children only acknowledged her, Hades, and Thanatos. Zeus believed that Selene wasn't loyal to Olympus, and he disliked all creatures that were outside of his influence. He was the one who caused Selene's infertility, as punishment for her always voting against him.

He wanted so badly to take this child from her, but he knew that he couldn't destroy anything that had control over the elements. His wife Hera pointed out that she was the only person to ever have an allegiance with all five of the elements. The Council decided that Selene would be able to keep the girl only if the five women taught her how to control her abilities and how to hide herself from the mortals. Because she was the only being in existence that was connected to Spirit and had wings, she would have to learn how to control these things by herself. Zeus told Selene to guide her and prepare her for the day when she would be experienced enough to guard and protect a village of mortals. The five Goddesses agreed to these terms, and as they were leaving Thanatos asked Selene what she intended to call the child. After a moment she answered, saying that she intended to name the girl Aurora, meaning Goddess of the Dawn. This was appropriate as the child was new and beautiful, just like dawn's first light.
