Aurora could stand by no longer, she couldn't bear to see them suffer. She knew that if they didn't get food and water soon that Daedalus would die, he was too old and too weak to survive for much longer. Just as Aurora was about to intervene, Selene arrived and warned her against helping them. She had already intervened in their lives enough, and any further involvement on her part would mean immediate punishment for everyone involved. She had to be physically restrained by the five goddesses. She sat by and watched as Daedalus slowly died of starvation. She watched as the love of her life mourned the death of his father, and as he slowly started to die himself.

Finally, she could take no more. She did the one thing she vowed never to do, she used her powers against the people she loved. She called the elements to her and broke free from the spells that Hecate had placed around her. When the goddesses tried to stop her, she used her powers to encase them within a wall of flames that even Narcissus could not escape from. She flew to Icarus and promised she would get him out. She gave him irrefutable proof of her love for him, she gave him wings. This went against the orders of the Council, but she didn't care. She would face any and all consequences for him. They were beautiful wings, the color of solid gold. She took his hands and they flew out of the labyrinth together. Icarus asked her where they were going and she told him she was taking him to Olympus to plead their case. She knew that she would be in trouble for giving him wings, but perhaps if they heard their story they would make an exception.

Suddenly they were surrounded by vultures. Zeus appeared to them, and he was filled with rage. He commanded the vulture pack to separate them and to hold them in place. Zeus told Aurora that she had been told to stay away from the humans, they were his to alter and reward, not hers. She had been allowed to alter the beasts only once. She had been told that that was the only time she was to use this ability. She had gone against the mandate set by the Council and must be punished. She was stripped of all duties, meaning that she was never to return to Crete, and she had to lose the "abomination" that she had created. Zeus then turned to Icarus and apologized to the boy. He had nothing against him, but it was his time to die and he couldn't have a winged human on the loose. With a wave of his hand Icarus' wings disappeared. Zeus commanded the vultures to drop the boy. Aurora struggled and screamed as she was forced to watch her one true love plummet to the sea below them. Icarus crashed into the sharp rocks below, his bloody, battered, and soon lifeless body was immediately taken by the current and deposited on the shore of a nearby island.Zeus then turned to Aurora saying that he hoped she had learned her lesson, and that he never wanted to have to do that again. Then he vanished, as though they had never even been there. Screaming, Aurora hurled fireballs at the vultures until she had killed each one.

Aurora dove for the island where the body of Icarus lay. When she got there there was already someone else there. Aurora recognized him as Heracles, one of Zeus' many illegitimate children. Aurora was weary of the man, not only because he was the favored son of Zeus, but because he was incredibly strong and she knew that she could never defeat him in battle. He assured her that she had suffered enough and that he was there to help her.He explained that he had befriended and trusted Icarus, and that he did not condone his fathers actions. Together they prepared Icarus'body and decided to name the island and the surrounding sea after him. Aurora then used her powers the encase Icarus in pure diamond,so that time and the elements could never ravage his body. She also summoned Earth and made beautiful flowers and vines grow around his tomb. After completing this act Aurora flew away to a small, dark cave where she remained for two centuries.
