It’s August, fall had just started and pumpkins miraculously started growing everywhere. It’s slightly of cold in some areas, leaves have been tiring to rake everywhere around the backyard.

Drains have clogged from the leaves and it rained quite often, causing a catastrophic mini-flood around the neighborhood.

“Shark!” I chase after my dog running through the neighborhood as he held a large stick in his mouth. His leash flew behind him as he ran past cars and peopke walking by.

“Sorry!” I run after Shark, apologizing to the neighbours I had bumped into while chasing to grab his leash. He reaches a nearby creek, deciding to run into the water as the mud-enjoyer he is and splash around.

I step in the small creek, the bottom of my pants getting soaked in muddy water as I struggled to lift Shark from the water as he stubbornly barked.

“Come on, Shark. I’ll give you a treat after this.”

He tilted his head, his ears slightly perked up as he heard the word ‘treat’ exit my mouth. He sped towards me, jumping high up as he pushed me into the water, landing on my butt.

I groaned, his paws carrying his entire weight ad he pressed against my stomach. I lightly pushed him off, standing up to turn my head and look at how wet my pants are.

I mentally groaned in annoyance, rolling my eyes as I look at Shark with a dissapointed face.

“Really? You had to get me wet too?”

I pulled him out of the water, his paws hanging off my shoulders as his head was on my left, his heavy body weighing me down as I walked back to my girlfriend’s house.

I stepped on the porch, taking my shoes off carefully as I put them aside. I stepped on the cold floor, my pants soaking down muddy water from earlier.

He jumped from my hands, laying his muddy paws on the wooden floor. “Shark O’Connell!” I huffed, rolling the bottom of my pants up so they don’t drag around the floor.

“And what are you doing with muddy clothes in my house?” Billie grinned, coming over to help me get the mud off of shark in the bathroom. “The neighbour offered me pumpkin pie, couldn’t resist.” I shake my head, walking towards the bathroom as Billie follows.

“Seriously? Pumpkin pie?” She covers her mouth as she struggled to hold her laughter behind me as I carried Shark. “Oh come on I know you would too. Plus Mrs. Berry’s pies are delicious!” I confessed, placing shark in the tub as Billie leaned on the doorframe.

“How’d you even end up like that?” She asked curiously, her hair tied in the poorest excuse of a bun. “I ate the pie and Shark’s leash slipped from my grip.” I flatly replied, turning on the shower as the head faced Shark, the water pouring out.

She nodded silently, staying in the same position. “Food makes dumb people do dumb shit I guess.” She shrugged.

“Wha—Hey I’m not dumb!” I turned to look at her, she grinned cheekily as Shark licked my hand. Making me realize I was now pointing the shower on the floor.

“Dumb fuck.” Billie scoffed, turning to exit the bathroom.

I sighed, laying down the bed as my hair had tangled, struggling to brush through it with my fingers. I wore a huge shirt from Billie’s closet, the rest of my clothing in the washing machine. I sighed and stared at the ceilingfan in her bedroom, looking at the mirror on her table.

I looked at the ceiling, deciding to sit up and go to the kitchen for some water. As I walk to the kitchen, I cant help but to admire the light from the windows. The simple orange tone bleeding through the clouds.

I couldnt help but stare at the window, looking at the orange sky. “Sky caught your attention?” Billie said, wrapping her arms behind me as she rest her head on my shoulder.

“It looks pretty today,” I said as I let out a weary sigh, staring at the sky as Billie held out a hand to open the window. “The breeze is nice too.” She said, making me chuckle.

“You have a whole sunset infront of you, but you’re so caught up with the breeze?” I laughed at her strange gesture. “Oh come on, the sunset is just like a person. You’re always so caught up with it’s beauty you forget to know how good the wind is.” She replied calmly. “Like how a person can forget to know someone through their lest attractive features, only focusing on the one that pleases them the most.”

I shake my head is disbeleif of what she said, her  head now laying on my back instead. “Please tell me you get what I mean.” Billie mumbled, swaying me side to side as I chuckled. “I think so.” I smiled, my hair blowing from the wind.

”Man if I could paint a sky so beautiful like you, I’d love to talk about it all the time.” She grins, kissing my shoulder as I laugh and turn around, her hands still attached to my waist. “You mean it?” I say, holding her face with my hands. “Yes.” She leans in to kiss the tip of my nose.

She smiles, leaning her head on my chest as she sighed.
