caitlin still had another dreadful two hours of her dreadful shift for her dreadful job.

an exhausted groan threatened to escape her mouth, but thankfully didn't as the same man that came in every day stepped foot in to the depressing diner.

he had managed to hit on her every. single. time.

he collapsed on to a stool at the counter, looking her up and down as she uncomfortably stared back.

she drew closer to him, every inch of her not wanting to be near him but she had to, due to the fact that this was her job.

"hi, sir, can i get you anything?" she asked cheerfully with a notepad and pen in her hand
"just a sweet slice of you, m'lady." he winked.

"something that's on the menu." she corrected, her smile fading slightly.

"chicken burger, please." he gave a very obvious fake smile.

"any lettuce or tomatoes on that, sir?" she asked, noting it down as he spoke.

he licked his lips, before leaning in closer and whispering
"what do ya say we get outta here," his eyes drifted to her name tag, also dangerously close to her chest "caitlin."

"sir..." she said while shaking her head, not knowing how to decline without blatantly insulting him.

"well?" she tried not to gag as his breath filled her nostrils.

"i'm sorry, i can't... i'm on the job. i can't leave. and i don't want to, anyway, i'm sorry sir...." she smiled awkwardly.

"i'll get you one day." he muttered quietly before hopping off the stool and leaving the diner.
she looked down at the unfinished order on the notepad and back at the door.

she almost shrieked as a voice popped behind her
"be nice to the customers, cait" sally teased.

sally was a beautiful girl. inhumanly short, seeing as she hadn't grown since 6th grade, but her beautiful blonde locks and bright green eyes make up for it.

she was around cait's age, they went to high school together, but they weren't really close.

"that's the 3rd time he's tried to get me to leave with him this week." caitlin scoffed.

"tell lincoln." sally suggested
lincoln was their boss. he was a kind man, caitlin assumed he had moved from britain.

"i will, when it gets out of hand." she nods.
sally pats her on the shoulder.
"i've gotta serving. stay safe." sally says before walking off

2 hours ahead.

caitlin was driving her rusty jeep, trying her hardest not to fall asleep on the wheel as that is usually frowned upon.

a song on the radio perked up, her head turning to read the title of the song.

american pie - don mclean

so bye, bye
miss american pie
drove my chevy to the levee but the levee was dry
and them good ol' boys were drinkin' whiskey and rye
singin' this'll be the day that i die
this'll be the day that i die

she started to move her head to rhythm and sing along, tapping her arm next to the gear softly.
her phone buzzed, but she didn't dare open it because of spencer's statistics on car crashes due to texting and driving.

she really wonders how he knows all this stuff.
was he born like that? or did he just read it somewhere and it stuck to his brain?

she was insanely close to quitting her job, but how else will she afford rent?

she pulled up in to her driveway, carefully parking before turning the engine off and picking up her phone

We caught the killer. It was a long few days and we're on the plane back. How are you? 🙂

she smiled at the message, her heart warming. even though it wasn't much. checking on her daily , even when he was busy, was enough to make her smile.

i'm good, just tired. i'm literally just back from work i'm parked out my house right now lol

she turned her phone off, shoving it in her pocket before stepping outside of her car.
she shuffled around her pockets for her keys and dug them in to the lock before stepping inside.

she got ready for bed, even though it was only around 5pm, it was late enough for her to get settled in to bed.

her phone dinged again, she assumed it was spencer, but to her surprise, it wasn't. who else would message her?

Hi, Caitlin. it's Maria. i want to sort things out because i know things aren't the best between us and even if we're never close again i want to be on neutral terms. i know what i did was wrong and i hope you find the courage to forgive me. ❤️

her blood boiled at the sight of this. who did she think she was? "find the courage to forgive her."
what the fuck?

caitlin
you ruined my life, practically. how did you even get my number? maria you're my sister and i'm legally obligated to love you but what you did was fucked up. i don't want to speak to you right now but i don't want to hold a grudge forever so i'm sure we'll sort it out but i'm not ready for this yet, not now.

i understand. i got your number from a friend of a friend, i know that sounds sketchy but if you think of it, it isn't too bad lol. love you lots and i'll explain my reasons as soon as i can. xx

how the hell do you explain paying your sister's date to spike her and rape her? that reason better be damn good.
