I was seventeen and he was nineteen when Athwa proposed to me to be his girlfriend.

I was seventeen and he was nineteen when Athwa proposed to me to be his girlfriend.

I, of course, accepted the proposal. I have always liked him, admired him, and wanted to be with him since I was able to understand the world, if not before. I just know he would make me happy.

We kept our relationship a secret from everyone, but only one person found out about it without any of us telling him.

Rudra Kapoor. Athwa's elder brother and my sister's husband.

He has always been there for me when I needed him. I was as surprised as I was pleased with how well he handled himself and the twins following my sister's death.

I was a child at the time, but I had heard enough to be aware of everything. He truly loved her and continues to do so. It is evident in the way he stays up late at night to stare at the moon, as she used to do.

I had always dreamt of the love they had or still have. I had always wanted a man like him who would go above and beyond for me, and I finally found one. I found everything I needed in Athwa.

By the time Athwa and I turned twenty-one and nineteen.

Our love and feelings for each other blossomed into a stunning and undeniable connection. It was as if our stars were aligned to keep our love strong and pure.

He was sweet, handsome, and intelligent, working under his brother to take over the family business. He had everything a girl could want in a partner; he looks after me and remembers every detail about me that I do not know. Athwa always had a charm, a sensuality in his simplest of movements, and a sense of security about him, which drew me to him.

"What has the poor ground done to you, sweetness?"

"Huh?" I looked up at him with squinted eyes, the sun shining straight into my eyes, blinding and blurring his frame. "What?"I inquired, putting my hand over my forehand to shield my eyes from the sunlight.

"You were glaring at the ground." Athwa moves to the right, casting his shadow over my frame, and I blink a few times to clear my vision. When I held his gaze, he smiled and looked at me fondly. He removes his jacket, places it on my head, shields me from the sun, and takes a position across me on the ground.

I looked at his hand, which was patting his thighs, and knew it was an invitation for me to rest my head on it. I took off his jacket and laid down, gently placing my head on his lap and smiling as he covered me with his body.
