Under the Mask of a "Star"

I have no idea what I'm doing with my life anymore. Also, I play on english servers so uh.

Tsukasa stared at Rui blankly.

"I'm guessing you have no idea what I'm saying." Rui replied.

"Not a clue." Tsukasa responded.

They were at Rui's house for the project that the teacher assigned to them. Right now they were trying to figure out a project plan.

"What even was the project?!" Rui asked.

"I don't remember." Tsukasa answered honestly.

Rui checked the assignment rules.

"It says make anything, and it cannot be a show." Rui said.

Then silence. It wasn't a awkward silence, it was a familiar comfortable silence.

Tsukasa was the first to speak and break the silence.
"We're screwed."

"?!"

Tsukasa and Rui stared at the monstrosity plan idea Nene gave them.

"Yeah- Uh- Let's NOT do that.." Tsukasa said.

"Agreed." Rui responded.

"I don't understand it too." Tsukasa commented.

"What the fuck do you understand then?" Rui asked.

Tsukasa shrugged, sitting down on Rui's bed and playing with one of the small robot Rui built.

"You have the spirit of a child." Rui commented.

"I didn't have a childhood." Tsukasa replied to his comment.

"Fair." Rui responded.

Tsukasa continued to play with the robot while Rui thought of something for the project.

"34x56x78=?" Rui asked suddenly.

"148,512." Tsukasa answered immediately.

"Well, you do have a kink for math." Rui said.

Tsukasa was now staring into the abyss. Maybe zoning out, but he responded to every question Rui asked quickly so it can't be that.

"Are you okay?" Rui asked after Tsukasa stared at nothing for about 20 minutes.

"I'm fine." Tsukasa answered, but it sounded oddly emotionless.

Rui didn't believe Tsukasa's answer to his question but went along with it anyways.

That was until Tsukasa's eye sparkles disappeared for a split second. That was when Rui believed that something was wrong.

Tsukasa snapped back into reality at that moment.

"You seemed to be zoning out back there on my bed." Rui pointed out.

"Um. What are we talking about..?" Tsukasa asked quietly.

"If you weren't listening to me then who the fuck was answering my questions?" Rui asked back.

"You were me asking questions?" Tsukasa said confused.

Rui mentally face palmed and almost, ALMOST did it in real life.

"It's not important questions." Rui replied.

Rui told Tsukasa a lie. The questions were quite personal and very important.

"Okay." Tsukasa responded.
