CHAPTER 17
Bradley
Max and I sat quietly on a park bench. He had his arm wrapped around my waist, and I had my swung around his shoulder. We stayed like that for a good while, never getting bored of hearing the other breathe.
Eventually he and I wanted to walk around so we did so. We went into a cafe that was on a corner street. The exterior was pretty rustic, but it gave it a certain charm.
Max lobbed his hair out his face, I laughed as he struggled to keep it away from his eyes. I reached over, tucking a few strands behind his ear. He blushed. "You look so incredibly stupid that you're actually cute."
"Cute," he questioned, sneering.
"Yes, cute."
"Pets are cute, babies are cute, I am not cute."
I took his hands in mine. "Don't go there with me, Max. I can prove you're cute—don't challenge me."
Max rubbed my hand with his thumb. "Yeah?"
Damnit! "Just shut the fuck up and order." Max laughed softly, sporting a quick, alright, Angel. I blushed a soft pink. He was so stupid sometimes, and I couldn't help but enjoy his silly comments.
"Can I get two iced coffee's?"
The barista nodded, punching the order into the machine, "that will be $7.00. Will you be paying cash or card?"
Max started to reach for his wallet and I shot an ugly look at him. "Card," I said, eyeing him beside me. I handed over my card. "Don't even bother bringing that when you're with me. Actually, text me if you ever need money."
Max intertwined his fingers with mine again. "What, you my sugar daddy?"
My mouth fell open, "I'm concerned, but, if that's what you want, I could be."
Max gripped my fingers tighter. "I like being boyfriends better."
I laughed softly, "me too."
The barista handed over our two iced coffee's. Max and I sat by the window. We could eye the pedestrians that walked by. People watching you could say. There was a certain amusement in watching a life that wasn't your own.
I put my head on my hand, the other still intertwined with Max's. "Hopefully you're not finding anyone more attractive than me," he joked.
"Not possible," I whispered.
He rubbed my hand. "What was that? I didn't quite catch it."
"Fuck off."
"I won't fuck off but I can fuck."
I almost spat out my coffee. He did his usual loud laugh that I had fallen for over and over again. Perhaps that's why I loved him. He was unique, certainly, and he had this charm that I couldn't ever explain. I was so stupidly in love with him.
"Drink the rest of your coffee, Angel. I have somewhere we can go afterwards."

The beach was what he had in mind. We tossed our shirts off, not caring about the fact we weren't in the right attire to swim. He walked into the water, sporting a giant toothy smile. He stalked over to me, holding me by the waist. "I love you so much, Angel." He pointed to the moon. "I love you to that moon and back."
I love you's after only dating for two days might make us sound crazy, but it felt so right. I nuzzled my head into the spot between his shoulder and head. "I love you too," I whispered.
He swayed us back and forth, the cold water surrounding us. That was perfection in every universe and I hoped that we were together in every one of those universes. "I may only be your boyfriend now, but I will protect you like I did when I was your bodyguard."
I looked up at him through blurry eyes. Tears trickled down my cheeks. "This is a happy day—don't make it sad," I mustered through choked sobs.
Max held my face in his hands and pulled me to him. A kiss that ended all too soon. "You're right, I'm sorry, Angel." He hugged me tightly. "I need you, so please never leave me."
I needed him more, "I won't. I promise."
