It had been 24 hours since Kino Loy and Y/n L/n had escaped from their Electrical Prison. Within that time they had gunned down Imperial guards, hijacked a ship with new prisoners and escaped, leaving no man behind most of course chose to swim across. A few desired to be dropped off on the white sandy beaches while others flew out further in fear of the empire. Little by little the faces that Y/n had seen for 227 days vanished in the hope of a better life. She held on tightly to the seat as she looked over to her fellow inmate and trusted friend Kino who delegated the ship as if they were still on program. He knew what he was doing and how to get people in order which Y/n appreciated. It brought out the best in him.
By now the ship was practically empty with only four other men. "Alright," an inmate spoke as he drove the busted ship, "we're running on empty, our best bet is to hit the next town and drown the ship."
"Then that's what we'll do," Kino declared as he paced to the front and leaned into the coms. Y/n stared at him for a moment as she gripped her seat, how did it not bother him that they were miles into the air? He walked around as if they were grounded while she held her breath with each shot of acceleration.
They tried their best to blend in as they flew over a troubled city, sketchy crafts were usually spotted flying in and out of the busy night sky so it wasn't something out of the ordinary.
The small crew landed the ship in a boneyard alley where scrapes and metal lay to rot, from there on they split up to avoid any suspicion. Not wanting to leave Y/n alone in the dangerous night Kino took her by the hand and departed from the other prisoners. Lowering their heads, the pair walked down the streets with no shoes, no money and no plans, the city lights illuminated the soft rain that was falling from the toxic sky. Outside vendors grilled exotic food and the smell made Y/n and Kino more hungry than they had ever been. "We can't go on like this," he muttered as he walked alongside the young lady, "we need to eat and find someplace dry."
Y/n looked around the unknown city, she had grown up around places like this, once you set foot into one city you've been to them all. "We need money," Y/n spoke back as she glanced around, "it's better to get out of here as soon as we can, we need to keep moving." Kino looked back at her as he followed her advice.
The two passed by a building of remarkable size. "This way," Kino spoke as he moved quickly to the side of the busy building. The young lady followed behind, allowing herself to be dragged by the older man. He wanted to sneak into the back of the building but for what? As if Kino was reading her mind he spoke up. "Just- trust me?" The gray-haired man whispered as he looked back at the worried girl. "We can get some clothes from here."
They had made their way alongside the building and were ready to turn the corner when all of a sudden they heard a disturbance in the distance. "Wait!" Y/n whispered as she pulled the older gentleman away from the corner. They froze for a second as they listened, Kino looked down to stare at the young lady, her hair was starting to slightly curl with the humidity and rain of the city.
Soon the noise passed, leaving them to keep on moving. Y/n could hear everything, from drunk women laughing in the distance to men fighting each other from within the alleyway. "Is this- a casino?" She asked as she followed Kino around the back.
"Ya," the older man breathed heavily as he looked over his shoulder. He was twice her age and yet she couldn't help being attracted to him. She placed her trust in him and was ready to follow him in his plan. He had led her to her freedom and for that, she was indebted to him.
