After the fall of the Lowdren Powers, Nyx formed the Immortal Alliance. The Immortal Alliance was a first of its kind uniting witches, demons, vampires, and werewolves in Green Front. Each supernatural faction was represented by a leader.

Since the inception of the Immortal Alliance two months ago, the members of the Alliance unanimously agreed to meet on the first Saturday of each month. They'd already met this month a fortnight ago, however, with the new problem at hand, Nyxt thought it was best for them to meet again. This time, with Qixoq present. Like Ivan said, if they weren't careful, things would get out of hand.

With Ivan's help, Nyx implored Qixoq to meet the Immortal Alliance. Two days later, four people sat anxiously in the Herald Tower waiting for the First Power of their dominion.

Meredith represented her coven as the grand elder. Ivan Vogelstein represented the Vogelstein Vampire Clan, whose jurisdiction was over all of North America. Logan Hardwood, alpha of the Night Shade Werewolves, stood in for his pack.

And there was Onyx Castle, leader of the demons in Green Front.

In the last ten minutes since they arrived, the tension in the room was stifling. It almost made Nyx anxious about what to expect. She'd never met this Qixoq person, but she'd heard so much about him that it was not hard to feel a little apprehensive. Besides, she'd had her doubts about whether Qixoq would show up. Why would the First Power of all demons in North America waste his time to meet a small alliance like theirs, just to listen to them talk about how they'd undermined his authority in his dominion?

As a royal demon, Nyx was certain Qixoq would not take things too kindly. However, Ivan Vogelstein assured her that Qixoq would not only show up but also do it on time. The demon had met with Ivan's uncle a few times, and being time-conscious was one of his traits. Besides, they had Pierre Claude. As the first human Qixoq turned into a demon, Pierre was highly valuable to him. A royal demon used part of himself to turn humans into demons. This was a physically and emotionally painful process for both the human and the demon. It was so dangerous that most humans couldn't survive the transformation. If they were lucky enough to survive, they would often become brutally deformed.

But then there were the lucky ones who would end up as a lesser demon, or even better, a greater demon. But the higher the likelihood of a failure, the more agonizing it was for the demon. Because of this, royal demons were very careful about who they chose to sire. They made sure to select someone with the greatest potential of turning into a powerful demon.

For Pierre to survive the transformation and even become a greater demon was quite a rare feat. So that must make him invaluable to Qixoq. They had the perfect leverage.

"This is a fucking terrible idea," said Logan Hardwood loudly. He rubbed his bearded chin while shaking his head. "We shouldn't have invited him here."

"You want him to strike first?" asked Ivan.

Hardwood shrugged. "Qixoq's beef is with Onyx. She was the one who killed Staslok and fucked up the Lowdren Powers. Werewolves have nothing to do with this."

From the beginning, Hardwood had been reluctant about joining the Immortal Alliance. The Night Shade werewolves preferred to live in a pack, completely isolated from everyone else. If not for the curse of the full moon once a month, they would never even bother to shapeshift into their wolf form. It was much easier to blend in to live with the humans, and they rarely had issues with the Hunter Guild.

In fact, other packs were a much bigger threat to them since the Night Shade was the smallest and weakest of the sixteen werewolf packs in the world. It was probably why Hardwood had joined the Immortal Alliance in the first place.
