St Mungo's was a cold place. Not in temperature it was alright in that department just in the atmosphere. Maybe it was because it was 2 days after Christmas so anyone there was sad about not being with their families on Christmas. Something that made it worse was one healer in particular was not very sympathetic. Most felt sorry for Regulus the young boy whose family tried to force him to join the dark lord. One healer thought he was too hasty and stupid for cutting off his arm, she had remarked this several times and sadly was the one treating him the most and being the nice soul she was, she gruffly woke him up.
"An auror is here to see you." She said while shaking his left shoulder which was particularly cruel as that arm was where he was getting treatment. He didn't respond to her and she simply led a strange looking man in and walked off.

"I'm Alastor Moody and auror with the ministry." He said while holding out his arm to shake. Regulus shook it with his right arm.
"Regulus Black." He knew the introduction was meaningless but it was still polite.
"You gave the Crouch family quite a scare but going to a ministry official was smart." Moody remarked.
"I went to Barty Crouch Jr my best friend." Regulus responded.
"Well your parents are going to go to trial for use of unforgivable curses and mistreatment of minors, you'll be out under veritaserum and they'll use a pensive to view your memories your brother Sirius will be called forwards as a witness we sent the letter this morning. If he asks you I strongly suggest you encourage him to testify against your parents." Moody explained.
"When will the trial be?" Regulus asked.
"6th January, I tried to get it before hogwarts started up again but the ministry wants to finish finding all the cursed items in your house first. You'll also have an appointment with Olilvanders for a prosthetic arm." Moody said while getting up.
"Wait I thought he only did wands?" Regulus asked confused.
"The Olilvander family is quite vast." Moody said before walking out.

Later that day he understood what Moody meant. He had met the old man Olilvander before, much like most other people at Hogwarts he made Regulus wand but who he hadn't met was Olilvanders daughter. Olilvander arrived first.
"Ahh hello young Regulus, I see you're in quite a sorry state. My daughter and her friend are joining us shortly." He said while sitting down.
"Daughter? I didn't know you had a daughter." Regulus said perplexed.
"My pride and joy! My daughter Oakley Olilvander is 25 currently and lives in Portugal. Did you know Portugal has a large amount of magic trees?" Olilvander asked.
"No I didn't." Regulus responded dryly.
"Yes they do. It wasn't just the Spanish and Portuguese muggles that went to war in the 1600s the wizards wanted the magic wood they didn't get it though! The magic is thought to be too strong and unpredictable for wands now though but is used to make magic prosthetics. My daughter moved to study it since it's a very lengthy process that isn't that common in England but she and her study partner just happened to get a project where they need to make an arm for someone assigned to them so it's perfect timing! You were very smart to keep the other arm boy, it will be so much easier to make you a new arm." Olilvander lengthily explained. Regulus nodded somewhat awkwardly but luckily he was saved.

A tall girl with short blonde hair and a shorter girl with tanned skin and dark brown hair entered and walked over.
"Hello we were looking at your arm, the one not on you." The shorter girl who had an accent told him.
"We were that wound looks jagged. I'm Oakley Olilvander and this is my partner Matilde Maria." The taller girl Olilvander's daughter Oakley said.
"Mind if I?" Matilde said gesturing at the stump on Regulus' left arm.
"Go ahead," He said. Matilde held his stump and began talking to Oakley in Portuguese. He could tell that in Portuguese Oakley has an accent much like Matilde did in English.

"So what were going to do is model your new arm after your old one and make sure it fits. It will be made out of magically wood making it erosion and burn proof and we will give you some black gloves for both arms if you want to keep it hidden." Oakley explained.
"It will also be light weight." Matilde clarified.
"Once you start school write to us to tell us how you get on." Oakley added.
"Thank you." Regulus said nodding.

His new wooden arm was built surprisingly quickly, much like the two women promised it was lightweight and he was given gloves to conceal it. His friend Pandora Rosier was the one with the bright idea for his whole friendship group to get matching gloves to disguise Regulus' new arm even more. Unlike his brother's, Regulus friendship group was not whole school influential but did hold influence in Slytherin house. This meant that the style of wearing gloves could possibly spread and become a new Pureblood teen fashion or at least that was a best case scenario.

Regulus knew that of course news of what happened to him would have been somewhat spread and twisted. It probably wouldn't have reached Sirius apart if him hoped it had. So they could be close again like when they were little but he had received no letters from his older brother so he thought it best to conceal the incident to not cause any drama. Part of this concealment involved turning up to get on the hogwarts express as early as possible so nobody would see him arrive with the Crouch's.
