The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silver glow over the sprawling farmhouse as Taehyung and Jungkook stepped out of the darkened office. The tension between them was palpable, each step they took reverberating with unspoken thoughts and hidden motives.
"We should stay here for a couple of days," Taehyung suggested his voice steady but laced with an undercurrent of urgency. "It's far from Seoul, and we can avoid any unexpected problems at night."
Jungkook nodded, his eyes flickering with a mix of determination and weariness. "Agreed. We need to lay low for a while."
As they settled into the cozy farmhouse, the day's discoveries weighed heavily on their minds. Aera retreated to one of the guest rooms, the exhaustion from the day pulling her toward sleep. However, sleep remained elusive as snippets of the day's conversations echoed in her mind.
In the dimly lit living room, Taehyung and Jungkook continued their discussion, their voices low but intense.
"Who could be there at that time?" taehyung asked still thinking about the office scene.
"I am not sure, but it seems like the criminal is not the only player here."
Taehyung nodded at his statement.
"We have to be careful," Taehyung began, his gaze fixed on the flickering flames of the fireplace. "We can't afford to make any mistakes."
Jungkook's jaw tightened, his eyes darkening. "I know. We have to find concrete evidence before we make any move."
A moment of silence stretched between them, thick with unresolved tension. Taehyung's mind raced, the puzzle pieces of their investigation slowly falling into place. But there was one piece that didn't quite fit.
"Jungkook," Taehyung's voice cut through the silence like a knife. "Why are you helping us when you know that all the evidence is pointing towards your father?"
Jungkook's eyes met Taehyung's, a storm of emotions brewing within them. "Because I know the truth," he said, his voice tinged with anger and sadness. "And because... I love Aera."
Taehyung's heart skipped a beat, his mind reeling. Love. The word hung in the air, heavy and charged. "You... love her?"
"Yes," Jungkook's voice was a mix of desperation and resolve. "I love her, and I can't let her suffer any more than she already has."
Unbeknownst to them, Aera stood just beyond the doorway, her heart pounding in her chest. She had heard every word, but the full meaning of Jungkook's confession eluded her. What truth did he know? And why had he kept it from her?
Taehyung's mind raced, a fierce determination settling in his heart. Jungkook's revelation had changed everything. If Jungkook loved Aera, it only fueled his resolve to protect her, to uncover the truth, and to make her his.
