It only dawned on Mila when she arrived back into her dorm room that she had never been on a date before. She'd been out with people, but never one on one with someone who specifically asked her for a date. Dread flooded her stomach, nerves crept in and settled in her mind, but a slight distant feeling of warmness was there.
"What has you pacing around? You won't get to Australia by burning a hole into the ground." Harriet Fawley, another fifth year Ravenclaw, called out - watching as the other looked close to pulling out her own hair.
The sound of someone else being in the same room brought her pacing to a stop, her eyes flicked between the door and the green eyes of Harriet, before settling back onto the window by her bed.
"I have a date."
Harriet was surprised, Mila had only been at Hogwarts for three weeks and already she had a date with someone she barely knew. Jealousy clouded Harriet's judgement, before she even knew who the boy was. It tasted sickly sweet and addictive —
"With whom?" Fake happiness and excitement momentarily clouded the jealous undertone of Harriet's words.
She was curious as to what kind of beast wished to take this girl out on a date, wondering if it was the likes of a lowly fourth year hufflepuff who felt pity on the girl who barely had any friends.
"Nikolaos Avery."
Internally, screams of agony left Harriet, but her external features remained as they had been before. She had been after his attention since their first Herbology lesson together in first year, and now she had his attention? Fate was simply testing her, was what she put it down to - but Nikolaos didn't even know who she was.
Harriet hadn't been on his radar because she was a nobody, she had nothing that set her apart from the rest of the female student body.
But Mila? She was almost like the newest toy in the sandbox, everyone wanted her but not everyone would get her.
Everyone could get Harriet.
"Oh! How... lovely. I heard he loves the beach, on a nice warm summers day."
Mila's brows narrowed, it was autumn, but the sun did come out occasionally in autumn... alarm bells were ringing in her head, screaming at her not to listen to the advice being given without having asked for it.
"I'm sure whatever Nik has planned will be lovely."
It hadn't occurred to Harriet that the date wasn't being planned by Mila - she had just assumed, Nik hadn't ever asked someone a question, nevermind to go out on a date with him.
"When is it?"
"Sunday."Mila replied without giving it much of a thought, she didn't like how Harriet was trying to push her way in by giving advice, and asking so many questions. It was unsettling, and definitely didn't scream friendly, at all.
She had really hoped that she could become friends with Harriet, she seemed nice, but perhaps that was just the side she wanted people to see.
Harriet narrowed her eyes before letting out a huff of acceptance, not wanting to carry on the conversation for any longer.

Meanwhile, in the Slytherin boys dorm, Nikolaos sat at his desk, quill in hand - notebook opened.
It wasn't so much of a notebook for notes, but a diary that was kept under lock and key for most of the year, only being let out for the most important moments he deemed valuable enough to write about.
"Look, he's got his diary out." Ivar teased, earning himself a paperweight to the back of the head.
His body jerked forward with the impact but he knew what was coming to him by the comment.
