Remember the Flowers
Warning: Character death and swear words
A/N: This is my first one shot so sorry if I messed up. Sorry this was sad I promise to post more happy ones later on.You sat there in the middle of the field behind the bunker. You like to come out here to get your mind off of things. You closed your eyes and you could feel the summer breeze. The grass between your toes and the sent of the flowers scattered. Your mind drifted to when you were younger. You and your sister would sneak out of the middle of the night to watch the sunrise and pick flowers. This was like a tradition to you and your sister. Being the oldest wasn't the easiest. You had to be the strongest, you had to be the bravest. Your sister looked up to you since she was four.
So when you girls met the Winchesters, you couldn't help but understand the eldest and his choices. He was exactly like you and you were exactly like him. You two got along very well, on occasion. But you knew you couldn't get attached. You knew your fate. But when you your youngest sister grew found of them, you knew you couldn't say no to those damn puppy dog eyes. But you loved her and you just wanted to see her happy. You eventually gave in.
It went on for three years like this. Tagging along with the Winchesters and Castiel, until a hunt gone wrong. She wasn't suppose to jump in front of that bullet for you. That damn demon wasn't suppose to have a gun. You held her lifeless form in your arms. She looked up at you and whispered those last words to you, "Remember the flowers.". Then she was gone, forever. You tried to make her stay with you for as long as possible, but she was gone. You cried into her chest, you tried everything to bring her back, but you could only do so much. The boys finally had to pull you back, tears in their eyes as well. You blamed yourself for her death. The boys helped you recover though, but there isn't a cure for what you felt. Your whole world was ripped apart from you. She was the only reason you never gave up. The only reason to always keep fighting.
You were thankful for the boys, if it weren't for them you don't know what would have happened to yourself. They were the only family you had left. Dean would come to your room and hold you when had your nightmares of that night. He would whisper sweet nothings into your ear. He would hold you until you fell back to sleep. Sam would watch movies with you and tell you stories of his childhood. Castiel would take you places you never dreamed of going. He too would tell you stories of heaven.
So here you are, outside replaying the memories of your little sister. Then your hunter instincts kicked in. Someone was watching you. Except you knew who it was. Dean Winchester.
"You know if you keep sneaking up on me, one of these days you're gonna get your assed kicked. By a girl, if in may add." You told him without turning around. You kept your gaze to the now rising sun. He ignored your comment though.
"Why do you do this to yourself? It just brings back memories of that night."
"No it doesn't. It does the exact opposite. It brings back good memories, of me and my sister when we were younger and we didn't have to worry about the things that go bump in the night. All we had to worry about was if we were going to get caught by our parents and get grounded." He was silent but came up next to you.
"I remember me and Sammy sneaked out on the fourth of July and we lit up the fireworks. One of my best memories."
You and Dean just stood there watching the sunrise. You finally broke the silence.
"I remember the flowers. I always remember the flowers." And that you did.
