She lifted her head off his chest and looked up at him with that bright sparkle in her eyes before she reached up on her tip-toes and planted a swift kiss on abhishek's lips.

She pulled away and grinned when she saw that the frown that had been etched on his face had now grown deeper.

Abhi:-"You can't just leave after doing something like that," he complained with a groan, his lips morphing into a childish pout as she burst out laughing; he didn't find this unfair situation funny at all, on the contrary, he felt quite wronged and quite betrayed.

Manisha wound her arms his neck and smiled, and that perfect, earth-shattering smile had always been sufficient on its own to make abhishek's heart burst into colourful fireworks. Her next words made him feel like he'd just jumped off the tallest and steepest mountain in the world and wings had sprouted out of his shoulders midway.

Mani:-"Fourteen more days and I'm all yours," she said softly, and good God, abhishek realised there was no more escaping the fact that he was so fucking whipped that it was unreal.

Manisha's POV

Manisha placed her notebook on the counter and hopped off the bar stool, retrieving her phone from where she left it earlier on the dining table. She glanced at the caller ID, vishal, and smiled, sliding the green button to receive the call.

But she didn't even get a chance to speak because vishal beat her to it.
Mani:-"Hello -"

Vishal:-"Is it true?"
The cheerful smile on her face dropped and her greeting died in her throat as she
registered her cousin's aggravated tone,

Mani:-"vishal, what -"

Vishal:-"Everything abhishek said, I'm asking you if it's true?"

The mention of Abhishek's name was a curveball that completely threw her off.
She had never been so confused in her life, neither had she ever heard vishal sound so
furious before,
Mani:-"vishal, calm down, you're not making any sense -"

Vishal:-"Is it fucking true, manisha?"
Her eyes widened. Vishal really wasn't the type to angrily snap like that, especially not at her,
Mani:- "What are -"

Vishal:-"Tell me it's not true! Tell me he's lying!"
She gulped nervously, feeling an unpleasant mix of helplessness and anxiety because she still had no idea what the fuck was going on and she didn't know why vishal was screaming at her and the sheer anger in his voice was starting to frighten her.

Mani:-"I don't know what you're -"

Vishal:-"Ashish...did he...did he really treat you like that? It's not true, right?"
The blood completely drained out of her face and she felt a wave of excruciating nausea ram into her.

Mani:-"What did Abhishek tell you?" She asked shakily, gripping the edge of the kitchen counter tightly for support before her knees crumpled beneath her.

No.

There was no way this was happening. There was no way everything was unravelling, no, not now. She was happy. She was actually happy. Everything had been going okay. The Ashish  chapter had been closed. She had all moved past this.

Vishal:-"He told me everything I needed to know,"
That simple statement was enough to confirm it all for her. Her stomach sank and she felt Her blood pressure rise so steeply that she had to close her eyes and steady herself.

Mani:-"vishal, what did he tell you?" She demanded hysterically, the first tear slipping past her defences.

Vishal:-"That Ashish treated you like shit. That he...that he was awful to you. That he made you feel ugly and worthless. That he swore at you and found joy in bringing you down. That he saw you as his property rather than a person. That you lied to me. That you didn't say anything to me because I'm his best friend. That you hid the truth from me because you didn't want to ruin my friendship with Ashish. That you were in a really, really dark place for a long time and didn't even let me find out!"

Every single world lodged itself like a bullet in her heart, and the accusatory tone of vishal's words pained her more than anything. He sounded hurt and angry and betrayed, and it was exactly everything that she had feared to death and more.

Mani:-"Listen to me, Ashish, I didn't want to -"

Vishal:-"How could you lie to me, manisha? And for so long? How did you act like you were fine to my face like that? How did you fool me into thinking everything was okay? How did I not have even a single clue? My sister was suffering and I didn't even know?"

She shook her head from side to side rapidly, her hand pressed against her mouth as she tried to swallowed her choked sobs, the sound of her muffled cries echoing into the microphone of her phone.

Mani:-"vishal, please, I'm sorry, I -"

Vishal:-"You're not denying it. Which means it's true. Fuck. It's true. It's all true, isn't it? I can't believe it. I really can't fucking believe it. I'm really the biggest idiot in the world, huh?"

She fervently wiped her tears away and stood up so fast that she felt a little dizzy,

Mani:-"Listen to me, let's meet and -"

Vishal:-"No. Not now. I have something more important to take care of first."

She could hear her heartbeat pounding in her ears and her gut had twisted itself into
multiple hard knots.

Mani:-"vishal? Vishal!" She cried out, but it was no use because she was met with the sound of silence. He'd already hung up on her and left her hanging too.

Manisha clutched her phone so tightly that her fingers started to go numb and she felt like she was going to violently throw up any second. And it was all because Abhishek had gone ahead and betrayed her trust.
