I look down at my mother songcord playing with it
"Good morning. Let's review The Ambassador Program" as the teacher Alma as I knew her was telling us.
"When the RDA discovered Pandora-"
"You can't discover something that was there all along" My sister told her
"Aha'ri when we say discovered we mean it was the first time humans came here. When we arrived we realized that was an opportunity to create beneficial relationships with the indigenous peoples"
I looked up looking at the picture with Na'vi and the floating rocks behind them. That was Pandora on how I longed to be out there but wasn't it dangerous. Who cares it is better then staying stucked here.
I heard my sister singing it was comforting humming as she does when we are alone.
The doors opens I looked over John Mercer. I looked back at my sister who was still singing Alma telling her to stop
The kid that was next to me Teylan jumps up very excited
"The RDA can share their medicines technologies and knowledge!"
"That's absolutely correct, Teylan."
Looking back and forward while Aha'ri spoke up
"Why would Na'vi want to have alliances with you"
Alma raising her hand "Aha'ri"
John Mercer begins walking up "Alma"
"You have no idea, what life is like out there, Aha'ri."
"It's savage"
"We found you as children after your clan abandoned you"
Did they really abandoned us..did mother not want us.
"We have given you a future a purpose"
"Our clan would never have abandoned us" Aha'ri says she looks at me
"He's a liar" she tells me in our language
"Sister stop" I tell her holding my hand up. He looks at me walking towards me.
"I allowed you to keep that dirty trinket under the condition it remained in your bunk, hm? Hm hand it over"
Holding onto my mother's song cord tightly holding it to my chest I don't want to let it go. It was the closes thing I have of her. I looked at my sister. Then back at him
"Reyka" saying my name wrong "hand it over now"
My sister jumps the table grabbing the song cord, grabbing his arm.
"Her name is Rey'ka" I smiled a bit my sister is always going to be there for me. Someday I would be as strong as her.
"It was our mother's! It's not some dirty trinket"
"You don't even know what a songcord is"
"Aha'ri. It's just a broken string" he tells her
"I know this is difficult for you but you have to accept that your mother abandoned you"
"Liar!" She says letting go of his arm. And then looks at me. He begins to walk backwards
"You all know the rules no physical contact. No dinner for any of you"
Teylan trying to reason with him.
"Director Mercer, sir"
He slams the table. If only I didn't take my mother's songcord we would've had dinner.
