My husband was angry with me... again.

"I can't believe how stupid you are !" He snapped.

"I am not stupid! I didn't know this would happen. How could I have known!" I replied with just as much venom in my voice.

We sat in our tiny apartment, shouting at each other while I held an ice pack to my head. I admit, I over did it a little at work and I fainted and hit my head. Why was he yelling at me instead of cuddling me and kissing my booboos? Am I not the injured one here ?🤨

"Exactly! You don't know what could happen if you over work yourself, which is why I warned you not to! And now I found out that you signed yourself up for extra shifts ? You are five months pregnant! Your due date is in the next four months! What were you thinking?!" He said harshly.

"I'm sorry okay?" I mumbled looking down, ashamed. He had a point.

He sighed loudly and threw himself on the couch next to me. "I know you're worried about money. You're always worried about money! Why can't you see that this isn't all on you? Let me handle this."

My eyes watered in frustration. "You don't think I notice how you're struggling? When you come home from picking up any job you can find on the side and then you wake up early to work at the construction site. Plus Sundays! You're tired and burnt out all the time !"

His fingers shot out to wipe the tears that fell from my eyes . I stared at him with wide teary eyes. He leaned in and kissed my forehead .

"You gave me a scare today. Angel, I don't care how hard I have to work. Your job is to take care of yourself and our daughter. Promise me, Angel. Promise your won't scare me like that again.

"I promise. " My voice came out muffled by his chest but I think he heard me.

🥺👉👈

"Do I look okay?" I asked my husband.

"For the millionth time, you look beautiful."

"I feel fat." I complained. "Is it the dress?"

From the driver's seat, Collin shot me an irritated look.  "You're seven months pregnant. You're practically a hippo. " He rolled his eyes.

An audible gasp left my lips . I flung my killer fists at him.

"Angela! I'm driving!"

The car swerved slightly but he managed to get control of it. He shot a dirty glare in my direction.

"Are you trying to kill us?"

"Sorry ." I said meekly.

"You're lucky Aaron likes you or else I would have left you at home." He growled.

I pouted slightly and muttered another small sorry.

The car stopped in front of Aaron's house. It was already dark at this point. Aaron is one of Collin's friends. I mean Collin's only friend. He was the only one dumb enough to stick around and handle Collin's moods.

I walked as fast as my swollen ankles would allow. Collin and I made it to the door and rung the bell. The blinds by the window rustled as if Aaron was watching us, he probably was. The door flung open in seconds. I was pulled into a firm hug.

"Angela!" Aaron bellowed in my ear. "I missed you so much!"

"I thought you were MY friend." Collin looked at his friend with betrayed eyes.

Aaron released me from his tight hug and turned to Collin with open arms.

"Come here baby boy!"

I cackled loudly when I took in Collin's disgusted face. He shoved Aaron aside and barged into his house.

"Thanks for having us, Aaron."

He shook his head and pulled me inside.

"I'd have you over to live with me if I could. But I don't think Collin would appreciate that ." Aaron's brown eyes sparkled with mischief.

"No I would not ." Collin appeared from the kitchen. "Don't look at my wife like that ."

Aaron rolled his eyes and ushered us to the dining room. Collin and I sat at the table and waited for Aaron to serve dinner. I believe that Aaron missed his calling as a chef. He loves to cook and he does it quite excellently. I stuffed myself heartily that night, silently anticipating the next invite to Aaron's house.
