"What are we?", adrien asked in a low tone, almost a whisper.

When Marinette heard the question she quirked an eyebrow in confusion.

"What do you mean?", her eyebrows knotted, as she looked at him, confused.

Adrien sighed.

"I mean....what are we? Are we an item?", he asked, in a shaky tone.

Marinette was about to drink some of her lemonade but stopped once she heard that last question.

She looked at him.

"I...i-i thought we were just friends", she confessed. She started fidgetting in her seat.

Adrien notices this right away and he sighs for the second time.

"Look, I know we've been friends for a long time but I've noticed we do things that normal friends wouldn't do. So what are we? Friends with benefits?", his tone rising with every word.

Marinette was really hurt by what he had just said. Does he really believe that they were friends with benefits?

How can he think of her in that way?

"Listen....I'm really uncomfortable with conversation so can you please drop it?", she pushed her plate of food away.

She stood up and started grabbing her things to leave. Just when she was about to walk out of the door she felt a strong grip on her arm.

"Please.... don't go", Adrien whispered. He took a hold of her waist from behind.

"Listen Adrien i-i know our friendships are different from most friendships but we are definitely not friends with benefits", she explained.

"Then what are we?"

Marinette inhaled a sharp breath.

"I don't know"

They both stood there....not one of them daring to move an inch. Afraid of what might happen next they both stayed still and quiet for a long while.

Before Marinette decided to spin around and look at him.

"I don't know what we are but I know...."

She paused mid sentence as she wrapped her arms around his neck. She continued.

"I know I really want us to be more...than just friends", the last three words she whispered softly, almost breathlessly.

Adrien looked her eyes. He wanted to be more than friends since they became friends.

For as long as he can remember he always had feelings hidden for her.....she just didn't know.

"Say something", she searched his face for any kind of reaction but it was completely blank, straight poker face.

"Kiss me", he whispered. And with that he pulled her in, kissing her lips softly.
