Kimberly
Jenkin wiggled in his seat as I attempted to wipe away the banana smeared all over his face."Savannah had an idea for us all to go to dinner."
"Mumma!" Jenkin shouted, pulling my hands away from his face.
"What?"
"I'm five, I can do it." He grabbed the wipes from my hands.
"Oh yeah?" I looked at him in disbelief, and mumbled under my breath, "Little shit."
"You really want to take him?" Robert raised a brow.
"So? We'll get a table in a private room."
"It won't work."
"Oh, but it will." I hopped off my seat and pecked a kiss on my son's nose before turning to leave the kitchen. "Wear a suit."
"Where do you think you're going? It's only four in the afternoon."
"And tonight I'm going to look the best you've ever seen." I grinned from ear to ear and stepped out of my husband's sight.
"You always look great!" Robert called after me.
"And tonight I'll live up to the worthy name of Mrs Mitchell."

"Kimberly, darling," I heard Robert's voice just past the bathroom door.
"In here!" I called back. Dunking my head under the water once more I squeezed any excess water out of my hair.
Robert opened the bathroom door, allowing light to seep into the dark room. "Can I ask what's up with the light?" He crouched down beside the tub, his hands glued behind his back.
"The light bust."
"Well, sweetheart, we'll fix that. Also-"
"Where's the baby?"
"Calm down, he's in his playroom, I'm trying to get him to tire himself out before we go out." He grinned wickedly. "Anyway, I quickly ran out to grab something," And then he pulled something from behind his back.
I couldn't control myself. I let out a high-pitched squeal like a schoolgirl at the sight of my husband holding a mini tuxedo. "Are you serious?"
"I know, isn't it perfect? Now, enjoy your bath, we have three hours until we're going." He leaned forward to place a kiss on my temple.
"Yep. I'm getting out right now." I smiled and stood from the bathtub, stepping out. I watched from the corner of my eye as my husband stood completely still, his eyes never once leaving me.
"You know-"
"No. We don't have time." I interrupted with a shake of my head.
"What? I was just going to say-"
I cut him off once more while wrapping a towel around myself. "No, Robert. Because then you'll say something, then I will and then it'll lead to sex. We don't have time."
A low chuckle filled the room. "Fine." He stood to his full height and pecked a kiss on my lips before heading for the door. "If you insist."
I turned around, meeting my gaze in the mirror that was hung perfectly centred on the wall. Candlelight was the only thing illuminating the room. I stared at myself for a while, wondering just how did I get so lucky?
I had never planned on falling in love with Robert. The circumstances most definitely were not the best. We were friends. Friends who enjoyed playing video games with one another. I mean, who chooses a man named Robert after all?
