The town is bustling with many pedestrians; people viewing in the clock tower, walking the sidewalks and cars driving on the road. Daniel in his toy store, selling toys to all the boys and girls in the town! Emily, working hard in her ice cream parlor... selling ice cream.
EMILY:
"Hai worker!" The ecstatic, skinny black lady exclaims. "Hello!" I say. "My name's Jasmine!" She says excitedly/ "Well... Jasmine, what flavor would you like?" I ask her. "Chocolate please!" Jasmine exclaims with a gleaming smile swept across her face. "Coming right up!" I tell her. "Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Bye bye now!" She runs frantically out of the store as if a bear were chasing her. Oh wow... she was happy.
An older lady walks up with her grandson. I serve them up as the final people of the night. After they leave, I grab my broom and start sweeping the store for tomorrow.
"Ew! Is that hair in the gum?" I gag and scrape it off the bottom border of the wall. Suddenly... I hear a loud- "THUD!"
I jump back. "Oh my god Sarah, you scared me!" I tell her. "Sorry Emily, I just had to scare you! How was the shop today?!" Sarah asks. "It was, alright... I guess. It's just stupid stress because the town festival is coming up so quick!" I exclaim in worry. "Don't worry! You have nothing to worry about, especially since you added coffee to your member last festival!" She exclaims. "Thanks Sarah." I say. "No problem." She says back with a smile.
We just got done cleaning the store. It was about 8:30 by the time we got finished. "I got to head out, I have work tomorrow!" Sarah says. "Alright, bye bestie!" I exclaim. "Byeee!" She says back.
Daniel:
I was resting on my couch inside my apartment, when all of a sudden, I hear a loud slamming sound. "Holy shit!" I yell out. "Hai, Daniel!" Jasmine squeals in my ear. "My god, please not that close in my ear! I ask her. "Sorry Daniel! What a wonderful day I've had! I went to the candy shop across town, the ice cream shop across the street. I visited my ex-boyfriend's house from outside his window and knocked on the door of the mayor's building!" Jasmine spills her words out like a bullet train. "Hey, hey, chill out! Why are you being so annoying right now?" I ask. "I'm on a SUGARHIGH! She exclaims while letting out a little chuckle. "Ok, well can you just stop." I tell her.
"HAHAHAHAHA" She continues to chuckle loudly. "Hey, shut the hell up!" I yell at her. "Oh... sorry Daniel. Are you alright?" Jasmine asks me. "Yeah. I'm fine." I tell her. "You sure, Daniel" She asks again. Listen if I say nothing is wrong... that means not a GOD DAMN thing is wrong! You hear me, Jasmine!" I yell louder. "Well, ok." She says. "W-wait, I'm sorry Jasmine. I didn't mean for my anger to get the better of me again. I apologize while digging my nail into my arm. "It's ok, if you need anything, just tell me. I can be your superhero! Jasmine exclaims. "Thanks, I'm going to sleep for the night, so do you mind?" I tell Jasmine. "Yes, goodnight friend." She says.
The Next Morning:
"Oh man, I'm tired." I think to myself as I'm brushing my teeth for the morning. I walk down stars and into my toy store. It has red brick walls with vertical dark brown paneling on the bottom quarter of the wall. The floor is a diagonal wood. I sell toys to some kids for a while before Pheonix, my worker, shows up. They're late sometimes, but they work well so I don't fire them. Once they showed up I wondered what I would do in my free time and then thought... ice cream.
I walk into the ice cream parlor across the street. The materials of the walls, paneling and floors are the same as mine, but the parlor has pink brick walls rather than my red walls. I slowly walk up to the register to take my order.
"Hello sir, what would you like to order?" The worker asks. "Uh... can I get a coffee and a vanilla ice cream with sprinkles perchance?" I ask. "Coming right up sir!" She exclaims. "Thanks." I tell her dully. "You're... welcome?" She says while scrunching her eyebrows. "What, have you never been thanked before, love?" I ask her. "Y-Yes. Sorry, just tired." She tells me. "Whatever you say, girl." I exclaim with no facial expression. She was hot. The way she turned around and swirled the ice cream and how she brewed my coffee. "Sir?" She says, I don't answer. "Sir, your order?" She tells me. "Shit I zoned out, sorry." I explain to her worried. "Please don't curse, and also... you're beginning to form a line." She tells me while shooing me away with the flicks of her white, petite wrist. "Who's next!" She exclaims.
Later that night:
Jasmine:
It was around 9 o'clock and I was doing my daily stroll through our small town. I like to look at the streetlights, benches, and flashy lights. I find the shadows and silence very stress-relieving. I decided to go visit Daniel again. "Why not? It's only been a day! I walk into his store and he was sitting in the seat behind the dark red counter with a black top playing on his phone. "Helloooooo bestieeee!!" I call out to him. "I'm sorry for being so rude to you earlier." He says. "It okay bestie, I'm Jasmine. I tell him. "I know your- well.. if you say so. Can you help me put some new toys on the shelf? I just finished making this batch." He asks. "OH COURSE" I exclaim.
If I get extremely nervous, I act very hyper. Or if I have more than a chocolate bar. He hasn't spoken. "Hey, are you okay?" I ask him. "Well... do you ever feel like you're doing the wrong thing, like, all the time." He tells me while his neutral smile turns into a full frown. "Well, not really!" I exclaim. Why did I say that? I feel that way all the time? Like right now! "Damn, Jasmine! You're no help!" He yells at me. There's that feeling again.
"What happened?" I ask him. I thought asking him would make me somehow be more likable. "NOTHING happened, Jasmine. I-I just wish I could take back the mistakes I made in my past." He reveals to me. "Like... what?" I ask. Even though I think I may have a clue on what the hell he is talking about. "Like being rude ALL THE FUCKING TIME!" He yells decibels louder than the last time he yelled.
He punted one of his newly built toys on the ground and it shattered into a dozen pieces. "Damnit!" He says frustratingly as he stomps upstairs. Each of his footsteps gets louder than the last. My heart starts beating really fast. "Oh no!" I begin to pick up the toy while trying to ignore my increasing heartrate. I place the pieces of the broken toy on the counter and leave. While walking back, I try to calm myself down, looking at the streetlights, shadows and the silence of the outside. But it doesn't work.
Once I finally make my way home, my heartrate is beating even faster. Like the same pace as bubbles floating to the top of my coca colas after I put them in a glass. Then I picture that glass break. It gives me more anxiety. I put one hand on my hand and my other on my heart. I hear the voices in my head.
You're not good enough. "No!" I say.
You're a terrible friend. "Stop it." I exclaim while closing my eyes harshly.
You don't give Daniel the satisfaction of a good friend. "Quit it! I yell.
Your disorder is uncurable. "I swear to god!" I yell louder.
"You should kill yourself. "WHYYY!" I scream harshly.
My heartrate begins to slow, and slow, and slow. I pass out onto my bed.
