A few weeks have passed since that horrible day. Tommy is getting stronger each passing day, hopefully he gets to come home soon. Our shared bedroom has been dreadfully quiet without his rambunctious enthusiasm over rockets and or anything to do with science filling the room. Finally leaving the bedroom to get my day started, I made my way downstairs to see Kenny lounged on the couch, a big bowl filled with popcorn sat in front of him along with a few cans of his favorite soda...mountain dew. He was continuously scrolling through the channels when he realized I was standing there.

Me:"Kaylee isn't going to put up with your lazy junk food days."

He lowly laughed as he tossed a handful of popcorn into his mouth, only to take a long drink afterwards before looking at me.

Kenny:"Ma does, so she can as well."
Me:"Honestly Ken, I don't see how she could when you don't clean up after yourself."
Kenny:"Quiet you, I'll clean up I promise."
Me:"What would she say? Oh that's right, your damn right you will you little shit."

Both of us began laughing since I was right, Addie would have said exactly that.

Kenny:"Shit, I should clean up now. Gotta be at TM soon to help dad."

Watching him actually clean up this time was surprising but then I looked at him with a raised eyebrow.

Me:"Wasn't Addie helping him today?"
Kenny:"Yea she was but something came up."
Me:"Something I should worry about?"
Kenny:"Nah, it's a once a year thing she does."
Me:"What's so important than work?"
Kenny:"That's not my place to tell you. Maybe you should ask her when you do see her."
Me:"Why should I ask when you can just tell me."
Kenny:"Pass."
Me:"Ken!"
Kenny:"Nah dude, that's a conversation between the two of you so leave me out of it, please."
Me:"Fine, when are you leaving?"
Kenny:"In a moment, why?"
Me:"Don't leave without me, I need shoes."
Kenny:"Alright?"

I darted back upstairs, entering the bedroom I didn't bother lingering around just grabbed my shoes and threw my cut on quickly before rushing back downstairs.

Kenny:"Ready now princess?"
Me:"Fuck you I'm no damn princess."

Kenny cracked a smile before walking out the front door. With me being last out the door, I locked it and glanced at our surroundings before getting in Kenny's truck.

Within minutes we had finally pulled into the lot of TM. Ken was quick to park then both of us hopped out of the truck to see the guys sitting at the picnic table chatting.

Me:"Aren't you supposed to be working lazy asses?"
Opie:"Say that to my face boy."

We shared a laugh as Ken and I walked closer to them.

Opie:"Figured you would have stayed at home."
Me:"Too quiet. Fresh air would do some good."
Bobby:"Looks like you will be helping out then."
Me:"Yea I know that bench would miss your ass if you had to get back to work."
Bobby:"This boy."

The guys laughed while I shrugged before sitting next to Ope.

Me:"I'm just kidding."
Bobby:"I know you are. How are you doing anyway?"
Me:"I'm alright."
Bobby:"Good."
Me:"Where's Addie?"
Bobby:"I'm going to finish that motor."
Chibbs:"Aye, I'll help."

The two was quick to get up and leave, I looked to my left seeing Ken was no longer there. Ope let out a low sigh,

Opie:"She has the day off."
Me:"Huh? Ken said she was here but had something to do that's why he came here."
Opie:"That is true. Look, I don't know if you remember but today, is the anniversary of your father's death. Addie is up at his grave so it's best to let her be."
Me:"Where?"
Opie:"Out on 180."
Me:"Can I borrow your truck?"
Opie:"Abe, I know that look. Please do as I say and leave her be."
Me:"Ope she needs one of us, so let me do this."
