Making Amends

Abel's P.O.V

I woke up on the couch and sat up looking around,

Me:"Anyone home?"

I heard Thomas yell "me" from upstairs so I got up going upstairs to our room to see he was working on the same rocket. I leaned up against the door rubbing my face as I yawned.

Thomas:"Addie is at TM with Ope. Kenny is out with his girlfriend, so it's me and you here til Addie gets home."
Me:"Is her truck here?"
Thomas:"Yea why?"
Me:"You hungry?"
Thomas:"Starving, what are you making?"
Me:"Nothing, get dressed we're going to the diner."
Thomas:"You better ask Addie for permission to drive her truck."
Me:"I will so get dressed."

I changed my shirt then grabbed my phone calling Addie. It rang and rang til it went to voicemail, I rolled my eyes and called TM.

Ope:"Teller Morrow."
Me:"It's Abel, where's Addie?"

I heard him yell for Addie, a moment later her voice came through.

Addie:"Yea?"
Me:"Is it cool if I drive your truck?"
Addie:"Yea, where you going?"
Me:"Take Thomas to get something to eat. Maybe stop by afterwards."
Addie:"Yea just drive safe, okay?"
Me:"Yes mom."-I joked sarcastically-
Addie:"Wait til I see your little ass."
Me:"I'll be there after I eat, help out if you need me to."
Addie:"Yea of course."
Me:"Alright, see you later."

She hung up and I turned to see Thomas standing there which made me jump.

Me:"Jesus, don't do that."

He laughed and crossed his arms.

Thomas:"Was that really Addie?"
Me:"Yes. I had to call TM since she didn't answer her cell."
Thomas:"Must be busy today."
Me:"Yea, come on."
Thomas:"Aren't you forgetting something?"
Me:"Like what?"
Thomas:"Firstly, shoes, secondly you need the truck keys and thirdly how are we paying for food?"

I sighed and grabbed my shoes putting them on and grabbed the keys,

Me:"Easy, Addie always leaves money in the cookie jar in case they will be at TM all day."
Thomas:"Oh."
Me:"Besides she always leaves it there for pizza but I'm tired of pizza."
Thomas:"Yea, let's go."

I followed Thomas out the front door and I stopped to lock the door. After locking the door I walked over to Addie's truck getting in, I looked to see Thomas was already in the truck,

Me:"Buckle up."

Thomas nodded and we both buckled up, I backed out of the driveway and drove to the diner. It was silent the whole way there, I stopped at the red light and broke the silence,

Me:"You think dad was suicidal?"
Thomas:"Why would you say something like that? But no I don't think he was, from all that Addie told us, I believe he thought things weren't going to change and his only option was to take his own life because I believe he didn't think he would be able to fully change."

I sat there for a moment and continued driving.

Me:"Yea your probably right."
Thomas:"I mean, dad did everything for us and to protect us."
Me:"Yea, can I tell you about something?"
Thomas:"Of course."
Me:"Lately, I keep having dreams that I'm back to being an infant and this blonde haired lady was taking care of me but was also trying to hide me from something or someone I'm not really sure which one is the truth."

Thomas sat there in thought as I pulled into the parking lot of the diner, once I parked and shut the truck off, Thomas finally spoke,

Thomas:"Those could be repressed memories, your best bet is to ask Addie."
Me:"Yea if she even knows about it."
Thomas:"I'm sure she would just have to ask."
Me:"Yea, come on."
