"He's just a baby!" Penelope exclaimed dramatically.

"Penelope..." I sighed.

"B-But Em—" Penelope began, but I motioned with my hands to cut her off.

"Go," I said softly, pointing toward her office. "Take a moment to breathe, then join us when you feel better, okay?"

"Fine!" Penelope whined, stomping away from the team.

As I turned back to face the team, they remained silent.

"I'm sorry about that," I began. "Whenever something sensitive comes up, she always reacts like that."

I watched as everyone nodded in agreement, but when I glanced at Y/N, I could see that something troubling was on her mind.

Your heart sank as you realized the baby in the photo would grow up without a mother. Instantly, your thoughts drifted to your own mom and how unimaginable life would be without her. These thoughts were interrupted when you noticed Emily staring at you.

I swear, whenever I look directly at Emily, there's something about her eyes that I just can't get enough of.

Just then, you heard Emily say something which made everyone in the room turn their heads towards you.

What the hell just happened

"Y/N?" a voice asked softly.

You heard someone call your name. You felt like you could hear them, but you couldn't see them. It took you at least two minutes to snap out of your trance and refocus on the tugging at your cardigan.

Y/N, focus now!

"I-I'm sorry, yes?" You stuttered, turning your head to the left.

"Did you hear Olivia?" JJ whispered.

"I-I'm sorry, what?" You murmured.

"The case? Everyone's roles!" she whisper-shouted, making Emily's head snap up to look at you and JJ.

"Uh-" You began to speak before Emily interrupted you.

"Agents Y/L/N and Jareau, do you have something you'd like to share with the group?" Emily asked, raising an eyebrow.
