Another school year will be starting soon. But I think I'll be fine, right?
I survived Grade 9 when I first transferred to this school, when we moved here since mid Grade 8 that's like 3 hours away from my old home. I think I'll be alright. I made a few friends so yeah.
When we first moved here, I won't deny that I was homesick and kept comparing my old classmates to my Grade 9 ones. Toxic, yes, but I couldn't help it. My elementary classmates have been my classmates my entire life, so I felt out of place, especially since my grade 9 classmates all seem to know each other. But I also won't deny that it was a nice change of atmosphere.
One of the few things I noticed when I was comparing my schools is that my new school, we'll call SHHB, has less toxic people in it compared to my elem school, we'll call it UMS.
It took me an entire school year to finally start accepting people here as they are and stopped mentally comparing them. (but every school has their pros and cons, so I kept bad mouthing a few flaws that SHHB has. Like that lack of snack options in our canteen or that we students aren't allowed to go outside the gates, unlike UMS. Back when I was like 9, I could go out and cross the street by myself. And the street was bigger than the one outside SHHB.)
But back on the point of the book.
When we finally enrolled for 2023-2024 S.Y and that our sections were finally decided, I heard that we had a few transferees in my class.
I was lowkey ecstatic and I wanted to befriend some of them since I know the struggle of having to transfer to a new school. Maybe one thing we could bond over I thought.
When we were given our codes for our online class, I entered the online classroom and looked at the google classroom's list of people in there and crossed out who I've heard before and even asked my friends who's new to the school and who isn't n shit. It wasn't long before we saw someone who was new and we wanted to befriend. JesJes (fake name for safety purposes).
