Shivi finally realized the identity of the mystery woman, Kate, who had invited her to lunch. They hadn't spoken much since the video call. Josh had mentioned that his family inquired about her, but this revelation came as a genuine surprise. Shivi was so overwhelmed with emotion that she instinctively covered her mouth with both hands and began to shed tears of joy. Witnessing Shivi's unexpected tears, Gia took a step back, her expression filled with confusion, wondering why her Anni was crying.

Shivi rushed into Kate's welcoming arms, hugged her tightly, her face adorned with tears of happiness. Kate tenderly rubbed Shivi's head as Shivi clung to her, leaning in like a child who had lost their mother. Daniel, puzzled by the emotional display, turned to Josh, raising his eyebrows in a questioning manner.

With a hint of amusement in his face, he replied, "Nothing much, getting emotional is Indians' favorite pastime."

Shivi separated from Kate, chuckling silently. She turned and noticed the others, still holding hands with Kate.

Displaying mock seriousness, Kate said, "Oh, shut up, Josh. It's been almost a year since you met me, and not even an 'I miss you' text. Don't you dare mock my to-be daughter-in-law."

Gia chimed in, her face showing a hint of playful annoyance, "Yeah, did you even get a gift for me? You men have fewer emotions and mock us women for being emotional."

With a playful smile, he teased, "When did you become a woman? The last time I saw you, you were still crying because I didn't let you watch 'Peppa Pig.'"

Daniel added with a smirk, "Bro, it's the effect of the Korean series she's been watching."

Both Gia and Shivi responded in unison, "Oh, stop it."

Josh quipped, "I never knew I was bringing home one more Korean series fan."

Daniel playfully remarked, "Josh, we have officially lost the masculine majority at home."

Josh chuckled and confessed, "Actually, I might not regret that."

Laughter filled the room, and Shivi couldn't help but join in. She had never experienced such genuine happiness in her family, and this was a new and heartwarming feeling.

Wearing a bright smile, she finally spoke, "You never told me your family was coming here."

Josh clarified with a warm smile, "First, it's 'our' family, and second, they weren't originally planning to come. But when I saw you feeling low yesterday thinking about your family, I called them and asked if they could join."

Tears welled up in Shivi's eyes, even though her lips continued to smile. She was so overwhelmed with gratitude that words failed her.

Daniel chimed it, "As it was a last-minute decision, we could only make it for a couple of days."

"We had to meet you anyway. Your birthday was just an excuse. Come, let's have lunch," Kate added.

Gia and Daniel walked ahead, leaving Shivi beside Kate. As they moved away, Kate held Josh by the hand, stopping him. Shivi stood there, still next to Kate.

Speaking in a hushed tone, Kate almost scolded Josh, "Josh, what are you? An animal? I came to see my daughter-in-law for the first time, and I see her with swollen lips."

Attempting to explain himself, Josh responded earnestly, "No, Mom, listen..."

Kate was not in the mood for excuses, asserted firmly, "First, you assault her and then send her for an aloe vera massage?"

Josh felt embarrassed and said, "Mom, please stop it. It happened in the heat of the moment. Let it go."

Maintaining her stern tone, she concluded, "I don't want to know the details. Just know that you have to be gentle with her."

Shivi pursed her lips, her expression neutral, neither supporting Josh nor opposing him. Kate turned around and caught sight of Shivi. Amused by Kate's scolding, Shivi playfully made a puppy face, silently agreeing with Kate's stance. Kate glared at Josh once more and walked ahead to the table in front, leaving Josh and Shivi behind. Shivi grinned teasingly at Josh and strolled past him.

However, Josh reached out and held her hand, preventing her from moving any further.

Josh inquired, his face reflecting his confusion and concern, "Why didn't you tell her I didn't mean to hurt you?"

Shivi responded honestly, her expression calm, "It's the first time any mom in this world has taken a stand for me, and do you think I would ruin it for anything?"

Josh let out an exasperated sigh. "Huh! I was really confused about whether I had hurt you, but you were just playing me. So, what's your opinion on what my mom just said?"

Shivi spoke candidly with a mischievous glint in her eye, "Your mom is a good woman who wants her son to be a gentleman, but trust me, I don't mind my man being a little wild and passionate."

Josh's lips curved into a delighted grin, teased, "Now I really feel like biting the lips that just said that."

Shivi flirtatiously replied, "I guess you have all night to do that, considering the fact that you gave me an amazing surprise." She winked saying that to him.

" Really, Josh! I thought bringing me here for glamping was the best surprise, but bringing everyone has truly overwhelmed me with joy and gratitude."

"Shivi, I don't know if I will be able to get you the love of your family, but I assure you I will at least share the love I have," he said in a voice brimming with sincerity.

Shivi hugged him immediately, he reassured her, "I am neither a serial killer, organ trafficker, nor a human trafficker. I just love you wholeheartedly and will do anything to make you happy."

She raised her head to look at him, and he gently kissed her on the forehead before leading her to the table.

Lunch was served and it was warm, but evenwarmer were the people surrounding her. Her birth family may have been flawed,but this family was truly the best she could have asked for, whether they wereItalian, American, or even Martians for that matter. She didn't care anymore,she not just fell in love with him, she fell in love with his family too.
