Friendliness pellets — or bullets, if you will — shot at Kris's soul. They swiftly maneuvered it around them. Meanwhile, Susie charged forward, gripping her axe tightly. She swung it at the flower, but he merely burrowed into the ground, just barely dodging it.

Susie murmured, "Where the hell is he...?"

Flowey resurfaced, just as Susie aimed at him again with her axe. It hit, and he took quite a bit of damage.

The little buttercup was shocked for a moment. "Stronger than I thought, hm?" he smirked and muttered, "Hopefully Toriel won't interrupt again, ugh..."

Kris, hearing a familiar name, spoke up, "...what? Toriel?"

The flower let out a chuckle, "What, recognize the name?" More bullets shot at Kris, only a couple hitting this time. The human grimaced as their HP lowered. They muttered to Susie, "Is fighting the only way we can get rid of this guy??"

Susie scoffed, "You sound like Ralsei with all this pacifist BS. Let's just whittle down its HP and then try to spare it- not like fighting would be ideal  by then."

"Y'know, we could always try flirting."

"...What. Nuh-uh."

Kris snickered before making an attempt to strike Flowey with their sword. He dodged it by burrowing into the ground again.

There were footsteps audible in the distance as Flowey popped back up. "Dammit... ...Yknow what? Let's just make this quick."

Vines ridden with thorns slithered from the dirt.

Flowey smiled, "I'll give you idiots a choice. You either hand over your souls... Or I tear them out of you."

Neither of them responded for a moment before Susie hollered, "Like hell if we're choosing either of those options!"

"Oh. I see. I guess we'll have to do things the hard way!"

The vines wrapped around Kris and Susie before the latter could even try to use her axe. A circle of bullets surrounded Kris's soul.

Kris muttered, "...we're so screwed."

Susie let out a low growl, "OBVIOUSLY???"

The bullets closed in on the heart-shaped object as Flowey threatened, "IN THIS WORLD, IT'S KILL OR BE KILLED! DIE." His voice was more distorted as he cackled and laughed. Kris and Susie braced themselves for the attack, but... it never came.

A fireball appeared next to the flower before it flung him across the room with a shriek. The vines loosened and fell limp on the ground as Kris shoved their soul back into their chest. Susie muttered a swear word as she glanced in the direction that Flowey had been hurled in.

A goat-like monster with a lavender gown walked forward. The dress had the Delta Rune printed on it for whatever reason.

"What a terrible creature, torturing such poor, innocent youths... Ah, do not be afraid, children."

"So... who are you?" Susie asked, looking around the room.

"I am Toriel, the caretaker of these ruins," she responded with a smile, "I come here every day to see if anyone has fallen into this place. Although, I did not think there were any monsters on the surface..."

Susie's eyebrows furrowed, and she opened her mouth to speak, but Toriel continued, "Follow me. I will guide you two through the catacombs." She began walking to the next room. Susie quickly followed her, Kris doing so hesitantly.

Susie muttered to them, "Why're you being so quiet?"

"Oh, I just, um... this just all seems... familiar..."

"Ah. Yeah. She does kinda look like your mom, right?" Kris nods in response. They, Toriel, and Susie walked up a few stairs. There was a room with a few buttons on the floor. The goat monster stepped over a few and flipped a switch near a rusted door, which slowly creaked open.

"There are many puzzles and whatnot in these ruins," she says, "Adjust yourself to the sight of these and meet me in the next room, ok?" Kris and Susie nodded as the latter turned to the human.

"...Puzzles? Can't be much worse than Rouxls Kaard's puzzles, amirite?" She chuckled, punching their shoulder playfully.

Kris responded, "Literally anything is better than his puzzles."

Susie let out another giggle, "Right, right. Let's just go on to the next room. Hopefully, we'll meet Ralsei at some point, or something."

Kris nodded and followed Susie into the next room.
