“HE'S AWAKE. HE'S WEAK, BUT IT'S PROBABLY BEST TO STAY OUT OF THE BASEMENT. He's Damon. I'm not sure how dangerous he still might be.”
Stefan said, eyes lingering on Zach's face as he tried to understand what the human was feeling.

It has been three days since Stefan spiked Caroline's drink with vervain, making Damon drink her blood and weakening him enough to be able to bring him to the basement and inside the cellar.

Zach nodded, watching as Stefan grabbed his backpack and, after looking at his watch, he realized where he was about to go.

“You're going to school?”

“Came here to live a life. It's about time I get back to that. And Elena, if she's still speaking to me,”

“Why haven't you called her?”

“What am I supposed to do? Feed her another lie? I hate lying to her, Zach. I'm not good at it. She already thinks I'm hiding something. Same as Evelyn, yesterday she asked when I was going to give her the ok to come back here.”

Stefan shook his head while speaking. He truly despised lying to both girls and not seeing either of them for three days made him realize just how much he liked spending time with them.

“What choice do you have? You came here because you wanted to live as normal a life as you could. You knew this was going to be a part of it. And for Evelyn… I'll see what I can do and try to talk to her.”

“THE SEXY SUDS CAR WASH IS TOMORROW. The football team and the band have committed. Well, not all the band. Just the ones who could pull off the bikini. I want, in your face, sexy. I mean, it's a fundraiser, for god's sake.” Evelyn watched as Caroline talked about the event they were participating in tomorrow.

“Unbelievable. It's like nothing happened,” Elena noted, making both her and Bonnie nod at her words.

“She's in denial,” the brunette said before, noticing Stefan getting closer to them all.

“Hey,” he simply said, looking between Elena and Evelyn with a small, apologetic smile.

Bonnie, feeling the tension, quickly walked away, “Hey. You know, I gotta… Be somewhere else right now.”  As Evelyn nodded her head at the brunette's words and made to follow her, Stefan grabbed her wrist, stopping her from walking away.

“I…I need to talk to you too, can you…?” Stefan trailed off, quickly noticing the anxious look on her face.

“Yeah I'll- I'll wait here on the side, Stef,” Evelyn also said, knowing those two had more to talk about and still wanted to respect their privacy. Staring at her shoes, she tried her hardest to ignore them talking, but she could still pick up some pieces of the conversation.

But Elena wanted to put her out of her misery as the girl quickly walked away after a few moments of silence from Stefan.

Evelyn tentatively raised her head, and she was just in time to catch the tired look on his face.

“Hey,” she said quietly while walking closer to him. Stefan gave her a tight-lipped smile, shoving his hands in his pockets.

“What do you say? Should we go out and skip this period?”
