'Good grief'
Kusuo stared at the ceiling with a frown on his face. His heart had ached for quite some time as he continued to feel guilt. It was such an annoying experience. All he could think about was the look of betrayal on your face. The way your (color) eyes dulled at him. As if he were him. Toritsuka.
He wasn't the most social or good at making long lasting friendships. It was a thing he would have rather avoided, but the chance of Kokomi being scouted by modeling agencies was bringing a chance of crowds everywhere. His school, neighborhood, almost everywhere and he did not want that. So, he had to make sure that they were avoided in public.
Unfortunately, it was bad timing because not only did her brother catch them, you had caught him. Kusuo hadn't seen much of your happy side as you were one of the most calming people he's encountered, but that day you were practically glowing more than Kokomi herself.
Dare he say that you were beginning to make him feel like considering you someone he wouldn't mind spending more time with. That was most likely all flushed away as soon as god's favorite herself opened the curtain. Now you were going to think he was some girl crazy guy like the purple haired idiot. A grimace made its way on his lips at the thought of a comparison between him and the perverted medium, there was no comparison.
Another side of him argued that it wasn't his fault you jumped to conclusions. His stubborn self didn't want to admit that he did anything wrong, but it was circled around once that sad look appeared in his mind again. Why he was worried that you would see him and Teruhashi together did prove that he cared for you in a way. It couldn't be denied as he was having a difficult time accepting that you were a part of his life as a friend and out of those that he had, you weren't as troublesome.
Until now.
Well, maybe you were always quite troublesome. Associating with a friend who was only interested in checking out girls was annoying as most of your thoughts entered his mind. Sometimes it did amuse him because they were made up of insults. How he managed to catch you at the store and giving him a coupon even though you seemed to use them more. Then there was the sports festival, the way you took care of feeding him like in some cheesy romcom and not focusing on your own class. The way you put Toritsuka's happiness above yours and found more happiness with the company of the other guys and him, how you grabbed onto his clothing. The amount of conflicting thoughts of him in your head of him on vacation. Being so warm and calming with your niece and invite him of all people to go to some event. One that he doubted you'd want to go to now.
On how troublesome you were, indeed. Including him in your life for only knowing so little about him.
No matter, you weren't his concern. You made that clear as school had began and he could already see your (color) sped walking passed him. It was evident with the clear deadpanned expression on your face, but when he tried to get your attention, you gave him the grimace of a life time.
Scum...he heard over and over aggressively. Then you went on to greet the new transfer. More happily than you did with anyone else he's seen you talk to.
He sighed, remembering that day earlier. Seeing you talk casually to some new stranger was a bit out of character considering you didn't have that demeanor with anyone else. You were polite to the other boys you've deemed as acquaintances, but suddenly you're chummy with this new guy all because he gave you the slightest bit of attention after being sad.
Aren Kuboyasu, the guy you were now on friendly terms with. He seemed modest enough but the awkward introduction was a bit suspicious enough for Saiki to inspect him. Kuboyasu's backstory was quite rough being a ragged kid and then joining a biker gang whilst terrorizing those who gave him the slightest dirty looks. His new goal was to make a new life for himself, but his old habits were proving it difficult. Not around you though, oddly enough, Kuboyasu almost seemed nervous around you.
'Man I'm lucky to at least know one person in this school.' He seen the way Kuboyasu blushed upon looking down at you, listening to you talk. It seemed like it was only the two of you with nobody else paying attention. Saiki thought you ignoring him and praying for his and Teruhashi's downfall would leave him at peace, but it felt a little too personal. He didn't want to be reminded every day of how much of a jerk he was when in reality he didn't want to be with Teruhashi. He wanted to be alone, or least someone who didn't attract any attention and were just themselves.
'I want to go home.' You suddenly yawned, mid conversation. Kuboyasu chuckled, caressing the top of your head with you swatting him away.
Saiki felt his stomach churning. He realized that whenever he was with you, it felt that way like nobody else cared or bothered him. Except for Teruhashi who believed you to be her obstacle.
"You must be new."
Speaking of which, the girl made her usual appearance only to flinch upon seeing the stare you gave. Though you were smiling, something sinister and vain radiated from the depths of that cute smile. Saiki had never seen the blue haired girl be repelled that he almost smiled. Upon looking at you again, you somehow managed to keep the conversation between you and Kuboyasu going again.
It was majestic.
Sitting up from his bed, Kusuo reached out to grab the gifted ticket from his bedside. His eyes softened. Making things right wouldn't mean absolute friendship, but he didn't want to keep dealing with your bratty thoughts or expressions. You were annoying, but in a way that was amusing to him.
