𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑 𝐓𝐑𝐘𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐎 𝐃𝐑𝐎𝐖𝐍 𝐎𝐔𝐓 all the cheering thats going on around him, finney finally found himself able to think. he was disappointed, to say the least. he thought he would finally get the chance to impress the people around him. well, mostly aubrielle. he was also extremely confused. why was she looking at him so much? why was she talking to his sister? why wasn't she paying attention to anyone else but him?

finney was snapped out of his thoughts when he noticed a guy calling his name. "hey, dude." when finney looked up, it was one of the last people he was expecting. bruce yamada? the guy he was playing against? "man, your arm is mint! you almost had me" bruce spoke, causing finney to crack a small smile. "your sister would be proud" finney told bruce, watching him nod in agreement. "she is proud. brianna's out there. just.. a runaway, thats all" bruce corrected him, the genuine hope in his eyes being more noticeable than ever. "youre right, man. good game" was all that finney could mutter out before running to catch up with his team.

"𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐃𝐈𝐃 𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃,𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐍𝐄𝐘." gwen tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear. "thanks" finney muttered, his mind still occupied with what bruce said earlier. "i made new friends!" the brunette informed her brother. "yeah i saw." finney nodded, turning his head to glance at his sister. "melodie, dawn, and aubrielle.." gwen dragged out the final letter, nudging her brother jokingly. "i don't know what you're implying but stop it." finney tried to hide the flush in his voice. "really, cause you look at that girl like the world would stop spinning for her." gwen said dramatically. finney gently smacked her side, signalling her to be quiet.

"i saw bruce talking to you.. did he mention his sister at all?" gwen asked. finney thought for a second and nodded, "he said he knows she's out there." he told her. the silence felt like an eternity before gwen broke it. "that's what they said about billy showalter." gwen spoke, obviously not believing the whole "runaway" bullshit. "mel told me she knew billy." she added. finney looked down at the ground, trying to find something to say. "what else did she tell you?" he finally asked. "that dawn's dating bruce." gwen accidentally spilled, covering her mouth right after.

gwen was told that by mel and dawn since aubri was too busy "focusing on the game". she just knew by the way dawn talked about her that she was so in love with him. she even had to get cut off by melodie to realize that she was talking about him too much. dawn told them that she had offered to walk bruce home after the game, but he insisted on going alone because he didn't want to put her in any danger. dawn let him because knew that whenever bruce said something about keeping her safe, he meant it.

"what about mel?" finney asked. gwen just shook her head. melodie told her she wasn't dating anyone because "boys just waste time." which wasn't that far from the truth. ".. and aubri?" finney finally asked, hoping that she would say no. gwen shook her head again, grinning ear to ear this time. "why, you want her?" gwen asked, half jokingly. finney was fighting the urge to nod. he did want her. but he knew she didn't want him and to spare himself the teasing he knew he might get, he just shook his head. "nope, never said that." he denied. "so you wouldn't care if she had a boyfriend?" gwen tilted her head, not believing him for a second. finney shook his head and a slight smirk took over his face. "never said that either." he said before finally walking into his house.
