THE SUN WAS BEAMING as Atlas, Elias, and Dylan jogged onto the soccer field for practice. The field was bordered by tall trees. Above, the sky was clear, vibrant blue with a few clouds lazily drifting by. The air was filled with the crisp scent of freshly cut grass, along with the faint aroma of blossoming flowers nearby.

The sounds of cleats crunching on the grass, the thud of the soccer ball being passed around, and occasional bursts of laughter.

Nadia had filled Atlas and Elias in on her plan and they were determined to find out how Dylan felt about Malina. As they stretched and warmed up, Atlas nudged Elias, giving him a knowing look. They jogged over to Dylan who was tying his cleats.

"So how was movie night last night?" Atlas asked, light toned.

"It was fun," Dylan replied, glancing up at them briefly before focusing back on his cleats. "The cookies were surprisingly good."

"Yeah I heard you and Malina were pretty touchy in the kitchen," Elias said with a mischievous grin.

Dylan felt a pang of awkwardness. He forced a casual shrug. "We were just being friendly. Nothing more."

Atlas and Elias exchanged a glance. "Just friendly?" Atlas probed, his eyebrows raised. "It seemed like there was more to it."

"Yeah," Elias added, nudging Dylan slightly. "You two seemed pretty close."

Dylan shifted uncomfortably. "I can assure you I only see her as a friend," he repeated, trying to sound convincing. "Why are you guys asking anyway?"

"Just curious," Atlas said, shrugging as if it were no big deal. "What do you think of Malina, anyway?"
