"Is there no way I can change your mind?"

The omega had taken a detour to take a walk along the familiar path in the woods. The moon lit his path and he basked in its soft glow, admiring the soft shadows cast by the trees. Only the sound of rustling leaves accompanied him until he smelled the familiar olives and white wine.

Taehyung paused mid stride and slowly turned to see Yoongi emerge from behind one of the trees. His expression was unreadable and the omega watched the shadows dance on his pale face. "I don't see what's there to change."

Not after you showed me a ray of hope last night. As foolish as it sounded, Taehyung had gone to see Yoongi's wolf with Jimin. As feral the wolf in everyone's eyes was, he was just a huge puppy in the omega's eyes.

And Yoongi had revealed a vulnerable side without intending to do so. That was enough for Taehyung. Last night had steeled his resolve and now he had every reason not to give up. He could tell the alpha was scared.

"I'm a wolf marked for death." Yoongi stepped into the moonlight, allowing the omega to see his features clearly.

Taehyung regarded the alpha for a long moment before averting his gaze. "I've heard that before." And he might have believed that if Yoongi's wolf hadn't curled himself around his wolf to keep him warm when they slept. Taehyung had refused to leave the alpha wolf alone and slept on the forest floor.

"I cannot love you or give you the life you deserve," the alpha continued.

Liar. You're just scared.

Taehyung wasn't the least surprised. He'd heard it over and over again. "You will keep me warm and I'm sure I won't starve to death on your watch."

"Taehyung..."

"I won't force you to mate me and I know what I said," he said in a determined tone. "My love is enough for the both of us. Just stay alive for me. That's all I ask you."

Yoongi scoffed, glancing away. "You don't know what you're asking for."

"Maybe I don't but I also don't see why I shouldn't ask for it. I'm sure Mina wouldn't like seeing you in pain and I heard she's a wonderful person. She sure as hell wouldn't want to see you suffer like this."

"Don't talk about her," he growled.

"I'm not trying to replace her," Taehyung continued. "I only ask you to share the rest of whatever life you have left with me. If you go feral then so be it. But what if you're one of those wolves who found a reason to live? What if the purpose of your life is something else? You're not going to be able to talk me out of this. The more selfless you behave the more drawn I'm to you. I know what I'm signing up for and I'm willing to risk everything for it."

The alpha wolf didn't seem convinced. "Your life will never be the same. You'll lose everything as soon as you leave these pack lands," he warned.

"I've already decided I'll go where Jimin goes. I'm never my parent's favorite peach. They have two other children they fawn over. They perfect alpha and the omega they wanted. I'm the unwanted pup and the runt of the litter. Whatever I do, it's never enough for them and all they do is, compare me with my siblings. Now they're just pissed that I wouldn't bring any riches to the family by marrying the alpha they chose for me because I kept rejecting every courting proposal they brought," Taehyung replied non-chalantly. "I'm just a liability to them to be honest. So...I don't see anything holding me back."

"Your stubbornness is going to be the death of yours," Yoongi hissed.

Taehyung shrugged. "Everyone dies someday. It's just a matter of when." He exhaled. "You can't talk me out of this, alpha."
