"I wanna break up with you,"
He blinked at me a few times before speaking. His eyebrows furrowed, "What— Why?"
I put the strawberry ice cream flavor in the cup before putting it on the counter. "I don't know. Maybe it's because you haven't got me nothing for my birthday? Oh, also your total is six dollars and eighty nine cents."
"What the hell?! Seriously, you're breaking up with me because I haven't gotten you nothing for your birthday?" He snorted. "Grow up, we're twenty two."
I gave him a harsh glare before looking away. I sighed and crossed my arms. "Just enter your card in, or do I need to give you a discount again?"
His face turned red. He mumbled something under his breath as he enters his card. When he was done with his transaction, he snatches the cup off the counter and walked away.
It was people looking at me in the store, but I didn't care.
I turned around to my other coworker. "I need to take a break," I said as I took off my apron and hat.
"But Aaron isn't back yet," Maya yelled.
I smiled, "That sounds like a problem for you."
The hot summer sun beating down on me as I walked out the door. I could hear Maya calling after me. But I simply ignored her.
Well, there goes Job number 14.
I was planning to quit there anyways. The last thing I was going to do is work all summer.
Some people wouldn't consider summer before the 20th or 21st of June. But, it was for me. It's June 15th, and it's 95 degrees outside.
So in my book, it's summer.
Honestly, I was planning to break up with him a few days ago. I just never gotten the chance to until now. He was always showing up at my job for some free ice cream. He was the one who needed to grow up, not me.
It was not like he was actually broke. He was just too cheap, and I cannot deal with those kind of people.
Every guy I've had dated so far hasn't met my standards. Well, I didn't know what my standards were exactly, but all of them wasn't just my cup of tea.
I date people for a few days just out of boredom. And he was one of those people. Commitment is something I cannot do.
It's not like I don't warn guys about this before they date me. They knew what they were getting into.
I wanted to go home. I wasn't going to walk all the way back to my apartment. That was out.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and went into my contacts.
I couldn't dial Daniela, she was at a Pilates class around this time.
Amaira probably wanted some gas money if she picks me up. Another person I couldn't dial.
I could dial Ja, my idiotic twin brother.
I clicked on his name and waited for him to pick up. I put my hand on my hip, it was getting too hot for me.
"Hello?"
I rolled my eyes, "Finally. Can you pick me up? I'm at my job."
Ja immediately groaned over the phone. "Again? Really?"
"Yes again, what if I get kidnapped if I take public transportation? This is New York where everything could happen. I could get killed, robbed, or—"
"Oh my god fine Joanna. I'll be there in ten." Ja says, cutting me off before hanging up.
"Asshole," I muttered.
