Ryan and Aaran stumbled through the dense underbrush, their breaths coming in quick, panicked gasps. The forest around them seemed to close in, each shadow a potential threat, each rustle a promise of danger. They had been searching for a way out for hours, but the labyrinthine paths only led them deeper into the heart of the woods.

Just when they thought they might have found a way out, a group of burly men stepped into their path, surrounding them in a semicircle. Each man was heavily muscled and glared at them with an intensity that made Ryan's blood run cold. It was clear they had committed some serious offense, though Ryan had no idea what it could be.

Before they could even attempt an explanation, one of the men spoke up. "Beta Cobe, he's the one who was last seen with Kaiden."

As the words left his mouth, the others bared their teeth in a manner that was distinctly more animal than human. It was as if they were on the brink of transforming into beasts right before their eyes. The men advanced, and Ryan and Aaran prepared for the worst.

Then, out of nowhere, a black wolf that had been trailing them transformed into a young boy of about twelve years old. "Stop it, everyone! You ruined my play! You guys are no fun," the boy said with a pout.

Cobe, the apparent leader, looked bewildered. "Kaiden? Are you alright, where were you, no one was able to mind link you, Alpha was so worried about you and sent all of us to search you when sean told us he saw you with two people ."

Kaiden, the boy, rolled his eyes dramatically. "I was just following them because they smelled different. And they didn't even turn into their wolf form when I was in attack mode! So I thought they are rouges As a future alpha, it's my responsibility to check pack boundaries, but Dad didn't allow it. So I had to do it secretly. If I mind-link him about them, he would call me back. He really has a bad habit of reading my thoughts. Like, he doesn't know what personal space means, really. So I just disconnected my mind-link, and the old man got worried like I'm a kid."

Ryan couldn't help but think, *Yes, dude, you are a kid.*

The men around them didn't know how to react. It was clear they were accustomed to obeying Kaiden, whose innocent face seemed to allow him to get away with any mischief without causing anyone to be genuinely angry. A few even laughed subtly, the tension breaking.

Just as the men were about to arrest Ryan and Aaran, Kaiden stepped forward. "Stop! Don't do anything to them. They're my friends."

Ryan exchanged a bewildered glance with Aaran. They had barely met this kid, and now he was declaring them his friends. Little did Ryan know, this chance encounter would forge a bond that would last a lifetime.

As the men reluctantly lowered their guard, Cobe stepped forward, his eyes narrowing at Kaiden. "You realize what you've done, don't you? Your father will not be pleased."

Kaiden shrugged nonchalantly. "Dad always worries too much. They're harmless."

"Harmless or not, they trespassed on pack territory," Cobe retorted.

"Well, if they're my friends, they're not trespassing. I invited them," Kaiden said with a defiant lift of his chin.

Cobe sighed, rubbing his temples. "You know the rules, Kaiden. This isn't a game."

Kaiden's expression softened slightly. "I know, Cobe. But sometimes, we need to bend the rules a bit. Besides, they didn't even try to hurt me."

Ryan and Aaran exchanged another look, both unsure of what to say or do. This strange boy-Kaiden-had just saved them, but it was clear that their safety was precarious at best.
