I’m made it half way down the stairs before he was behind me. I knew he was coming before I saw him, I should have known.

“Eve, please don’t leave, let me explain to you, you have to understand. Please Eve, please,” he pleads to me. Not so much the big strong Alpha now, he looks ready to crumble. He moved to stand on the stairs below me effectively blocking my path.

I want to shout for my Aunt but I have the feeling Mr Alpha here would only send them away again. He wraps his arms around my waist laying his head against my chest. He just holds me his breathing slow and steady, like my closeness sooths him the same way his sooths me. Although he is doing nothing remotely sexy my entire body is burning for him, my nipples harden and my heart is racing. I know he can hear it as he has his head right against it, but I don’t want this, I don’t want a man that has had half the pack in his bed. It’s going to take more than this to make it up to me.

 “Let go of me Jake,” I demanded. He looked up at me with such sadness in his eyes that I almost crumbled, my words had hurt him.

“Baby I’m your mate you can’t leave me, you belong here with me,” he stated.

“Yes and I’m not one of your sluts that will just jump into bed with you, so why don’t you go find one of them to keep you company tonight!” I yelled. He must have been momentarily staggered, so I took the opportunity to push past him down the stairs, and made my way toward the front room. My aunt and Uncle were sitting talking to a beautiful lady who could only be Jakes mother. They had the exact same eyes, and as she looked up as I barged my way through the door I was stunned. I had to get out of here now, so I moved towards my aunt.

 “Please Sharon can we leave now?” I plead with my eyes hoping she understands what I’m saying.

“Eve my darling we can leave whenever you like I…..I just assumed you would not want to leave, is everything ok?” She asked, her voice dripping with concern.

 “Please Aunt Sharon, I just want to go home,” I plead with her.

 “Of course darling let’s go,” she says as she turns towards Jake mother. “Oh Eve I almost forgot this is Angel, she is Jakes mother.” She introduces us. The beautiful women with Jakes eye’s and long midnight black hair crosses the room in record speed, and scoops me up into the mother of all bear hugs. I’m literally gasping for breath as she continues to squeeze me.

“My beautiful girl, I am so happy to meet you. I always wanted a daughter and now I’ve got one I’m so happy…..Oh I want grandchildren, “she shouts excitedly releasing me from her vice grip, but does not releasing me completely.

 “Mom come on, please let her be. Eve’s had a long day.” I spin on my heels out of angles grip to face him, was he really going to let me go. He had got me out of the very awkward position of talking grandkids with a woman I didn’t know……fuck this I really need to get out of here.

I say my goodbyes to Jakes mother and thank her for having me, ever polite of course, and turn to Jake who hasn’t moved from the bottom of the stairs. He raises his head when he feels my eyes on him and locks his gaze to mine, again my wolf screams to go to him. Hell my whole body is screaming for me to go to him, but that stubborn human side is taking over again and I turn away. I feel him behind me in less than a second his arms snake around my waist and he buries his face into my hair, inhaling my scent deeply. I feel his body trembling with need but he simply leans around kisses my cheek and whispers into my ear,

“I will wait for as long as it takes for you to want me baby. Forever if I have too.” Then his gone.

I don’t really remember the drive home, or even getting undressed for bed. I had so much to think about, but when I wake with a jump I realise three things at once. 1-It’s dark, my clock is glowing 3.15am, 2- I’m wearing my usual vest and shorts sleep combo so I must have changed myself, and 3- someone is sitting on the end of my bed.
