Death will always fear you Kairo Fayiz, don't let it be the other way round otherwise, death shall seek you eagerly.
Those were my mother's last words before leaving this cruel world. I saw her body lay lifelessly on the white marble floors in our bathroom.
Crimson red blood seeping out from my mother's chest. The marble floors weren't as white anymore.
But stained with thick Crimson blood.
I dropped down to my knees and held my mother in my arms. I couldn't care less if I was kneeling on my own mother's blood, all I cared about was holding her tightly but ever so lightly. I stared in to my mother's ivory eyes they still glistened vividly, but I knew it was only temporary before they began to go dull.
I wept and wept and wept. My tears trickling down from my face to my mother's. I wept like never before. I began speaking to my mother as if she was alive. I wanted to shout but I couldn't, it felt like something was holding my voice to prevent me from shouting, all I could do was whisper.
"Mother pl- please don't leave me here alone."
I whispered hastily.I kept kissing my mother all over her face her; eyes, lips, cheek, nose, chin and her forehead. Her face was still warm, but I knew the warmth will fade away rapidly.
"Kairo what would you like to eat." She shouted.
"Can I please have Tagine." I shouted back.
"Kairo my love pick a different dish besides Tagine." She yelled back.
"Please umm ( mother) you know it's my favourite dish that you make, please I won't ask again, just think of it as my last birthday present, even though it was yesterday." I shouted back whilst chuckling.
"Fine my love just because you turned 15 yesterday, doesn't mean am doing it as a present but as a request." She shouted back louder.
I laughed and stayed in my room watching TV.
2 hours passed by.
I closed my bedroom door quietly, every step I took, to get on the first floor, the scent of my mother's cooking was intensifying, whilst filling up my nostrils with aromatic spices and seasonings. I even took a moment to smell the lively aroma that was only for a brief moment.
I skipped some steps to get downstairs quickly. I walked through the hallways slowly so my mother wouldn't hear my footsteps. Then I crept into the kitchen silently, and walked towards my mother from behind and then gave her a tight hug, it triggered her to squeal loudly, and try to break free from my hug. She managed to free herself, and we both ended up laughing hysterically.
My mother starts plating our food, then gently places our white bowls and cups on the black dinning table.
"Here's your food Kairo my love." She smiled.
"Shukran umm (Thank you mother)." I said softly whilst smiling back.
"You're Arabic is very good Kairo my love am very proud, but you know you need to keep this up. I want you to learn your native language fluently okay, I don't mind you speaking in English as it is your first language but, I want you to have another language that you can speak at home with me," She said in a concern tone.
