Jamie was doing a school project to look into his family history. Jamie was able to get to know two of his relatives from when the town was founded: his many times grandmother, Elisabeth Overland, and her older brother, Jackson Overland. Jamie found an old story about how, just after Christmas, Jackson and Elisabeth went ice skating, but the ice wasn't thick. Jackson pulled Elisabeth off the cracking ice but fell in himself sadly. Drowning at 14 after his death, the pond he drowned in stayed frozen all year round, no matter how hot the summers. Jamie, of course, knew about Overland Pond and its unique fetcher, but the story he hears now doesn't say the sibling's name. They were an older brother and younger sister going ice skating. After Christmas, the ice was too thin, and the brother saved his drowning in the process. The brother says the pond is frozen, so no one else can fall in.
When Jamie finds an illustration of Jackson Overland, he almost falls out of his chair in shock. Jackson Overland looks a lot like Jack Frost but has brown hair and eyes. He has remembered Jack Frost for 300 years and just recently got his memories of his life before he was Jack Frost. He was one of the first generation of children born after the town was founded. Jamie runs out of the house, quite telling his mom that he is going to Overland Pond.
When Jamie got there, he was glad that Jack was there." Jack!" Jack smiles at him from his tree and floats down." Hey Jamie, what's up." Jamie takes a moment to catch his breath." Jack, I was looking into my family history for school, and I was about to go back 300 years and found my many times great-grandmother Elizabeth Bennett. Her Maiden name was Overland." Jack's eyes widened." And I read a story about her older brother Jackson Overland and how he saved her from falling through the ice." Jamie pulls out the illustration of Jackson." And I found this illustration, and Jackson Overland looks like you, Jack. So Jack, where are you, Jackson Overland?"
Jack sighed." Yes, that is who I was before I became Jack Frost, but I just recently got my memories back, so I never knew what happened to my sister because I didn't know who she was when I woke up. I'm glad she lived, which means I'm sort of you and Sophie's uncle?" Jack was trying to act cool, but Jamie could tell he was scared that Jamie would regret him, but Jamie hugged Jack." I am happy I have a unique, cool uncle like Jack."
