Pomona Esma Higgins's Journal.
Entry 1. Preparations.The 15th of August.
"It is currently 11:47 at night, my step-son has returned from Julius's office, and has the suitcase containing everything for "Project Homunculi". This is good for what we need to do, what we have to do. We had been traveling with the Rebels since this war between man and machine started, but now as we hide in these bunkers, I wonder if joining the rebels was the right choice. Will this place provide sanctuary, or be our final resting place? Regardless, we are safe until the underground sanctuary is ready, the gods know how long that will take.
As for what's in the suitcase, it contains Julius's latest creation; Homunculi, "Stitchpunks" as he called them in his letter, to transfer a fraction of our soul into the body of one of them, even though he says it works, I'm sceptical. Regardless of my personal opinion, he has provided a device and the equipment needed to bring them to life. Also in the case are the so called fifteen "Stitchpunks", a brass canvas unnumbered one, 20, 14, 10, 18, 16, 0, 21, 12, 19, 17, 13, 11, 15, and a gray and ebony one also without a number. We're going to be down here for a while, so we may as well bring them to life.
If we are not here, and if any survivors find this journal, My name is Pomona Esma Higgins. I am a survivor of the Machine outbreak, there are fourteen of us hiding down here with the rebellion, and we will be headed underground when it's finished. We'll.... We'll be waiting for your arrival, dear survivor of the war.
Pomona Esma Higgins, signing out."
