"How about Jaidee?" asked Eve, her adoptive sister, who was lounging on the top bunk and playing Candy Crush on her phone. "She's cute."

"She's dating Lea," Freen immediately dismissed, wrinkling her nose. "Black or red?" she asked, holding up two sweaters and looking at them with nothing but indecision.

"The red says you're sexy and bold," Malee replied, another of her adoptive sisters, who was lying on the top bunk of the other bed with a laptop on her legs.

"But the black says you're a badass... and you're working at a tattoo studio, so I guess that's the look you're going for," Jan observed, who was lying next to Malee, her eyes fixed on the computer screen.

"I guess I'll play it safe," Freen decided as she took off her paint-splattered blue t-shirt, tossing it aside.

"You could go with Ariana," Eve suggested.

"She was my girlfriend until five months ago, Eve. I don't think she wants to go to a party with me just so Milika will let you go out with Nela."

"Come on, Freen. Please," Eve pleaded, pouting.

"I can go," Freen finally conceded, "but definitely not with Ariana. You'll have to find someone else."

"How about Austin? He's gay, you get along well, and I'm sure he'll ditch you as soon as he sees all the guys there," Eve suggested.

"You'll have to talk to him," Freen agreed with a shrug, awkwardly pulling on the black sweater and positioning herself in front of the small mirror behind the door, ready to do her makeup like a true tattoo artist.

"You're the best sister ever, Freen," Eve exaggerated without looking up, too focused on her Candy Crush game.

"What about me?! I'm awesome!" Malee retorted.

"You are, but when I asked you to come with me, you refused and said you'd rather watch mass on the computer with Jan," Eve countered.

"That's because watching mass with me is the highlight of life," Jan boasted, cuddling with Malee, a slight smile playing on her lips.

"It's actually because Eve's boyfriend scares me..." Malee confessed.

"Malee!" Jan scolded her.

Freen laughed from her spot and added the final touches of dark eyeliner before moving on to her lips.

"What are you tattooing today, Mila? Butts or something?" Eve asked curiously.

"I don't know," Freen replied, glancing at her distracted adoptive sister through the mirror. She would have teased her about being so absorbed in her game if Eve wasn't so extremely vengeful. "I have a couple of appointments with some brothers who want their parents' names on their wrists and an old lady who wants a butterfly on her saggy right breast. As for the other tattoos... I guess it'll be a surprise."

She looked at herself in the mirror. She appeared too pale, with overly black lips and a lot of eyeliner, but it gave her a mysterious and dark vibe, which is how all tattoo artists are supposed to look.

"You almost look scary dressed like that, Freen," Malee joked.

"Almost," Freen emphasized with a smile as she finished her makeup.

"No one who's seen you in a full pink pajama set could ever be scared of you, Freen," Jan said, bursting into laughter.

"It's really comfy!" Freen whined, pouting and crossing her arms.

"And that's how our favorite tattoo artist shows her true colors..." Jan grinned.

"She's our baby," Eve said in a tone one might use to speak to a two-month-old.
