My Grandma told me never let nobody know about three things
First...your next move
Second ... how much money you got
Third and final your love life

"Big year ahead, gotta make it count," Mama said, pulling into the school parking lot. Her voice had that mix of pride and concern that only a mother could manage. She glanced over at me, her hands gripping the steering wheel a bit tighter than usual. "Remember, keep your head up and don't let anyone push you around."

"I know, Mama," I replied, trying to sound more confident than I felt. The familiar sight of Jefferson High loomed ahead, the brick building looking both imposing and mundane. This was my senior year, my last chance to make a mark. No more blending into the shadows, no more being just another face in the crowd.

"Promise me you'll try to enjoy yourself too," she added, her eyes softening as she looked at me. "It's your last year, after all. You deserve to have some fun."

"I promise," I said, leaning over to give her a quick hug before stepping out of the car. The morning sun was already beating down, promising another sweltering Indiana day. As I walked through the crowded hallway, I couldn't help but notice how everyone seemed to have their own group, their own place. I always felt like I was on the outside looking in.

Suddenly, I felt a familiar arm snake around my waist, pulling me close. "Ready for the last first day of high school?" Luca's voice was low and playful in my ear. We'd been best friends since forever, and his touch was as comforting as it was natural.

"Ready as I'll ever be," I replied with a smile, leaning into him. Luca was the one person who really got me, the one person I could trust implicitly.

"Let's make this year unforgettable," Luca said, giving my waist a gentle squeeze as we headed towards our first class.

As the day progressed, I couldn't shake the feeling that something significant was on the horizon. Maybe it was just the excitement of senior year, or maybe it was something more. Either way, I was ready to face whatever came my way.
