I strode into the station, determination in my stride, and asked the police to take me to Detective Arnab. With a nod, he led me to the detective's office, where I declared,

''I want to see the killer.''

Detective Arnab's eyes narrowed slightly, but he gestured for me to follow him. We walked to a room where the killer sat, his eyes gleaming with a sinister light. My heart raced as I approached him, his smile twisting into a grotesque grin. I steeled myself, refusing to back down, and took a seat across from him, my eyes locked on his.

I sat down at a quiet distance from the killer and began to ask questions. "What's your name?" I asked.

He replied in a cold, detached voice, "Avid."

My next question was, "Do you know Harin?"

At first, he became quiet, but only for a moment. Then, a chilling laugh escaped his lips, and he said,

"Harin... oh, I know her. I'm the one who killed her."

His words sent a shiver down my spine as I realized the gravity of the situation.

"Why did you kill her? What had she done to you?" I shouted at Avid, my voice trembling with anger and sadness.

Avid's response was a cold, mirthless laugh.

"I kill people, but she was an exception. She was..."

He paused, his eyes locking onto mine with an unnerving intensity.

I felt a chill run down my spine as he continued, his voice dripping with malice.

"Well, I remember the scared eyes of hers. She was begging for help, her eyes were full of tears... it touched my heart."

He sneered, his words dripping with sarcasm.

"So, without wasting her time, I pushed the car into the river."

Avid's words painted a vivid picture of Harin's final moments, and I felt my heart heavy with grief and anger.

My anger boiled over, and I sprang from my seat, grabbing Avid's collar and punching him in the face. His nose began to bleed, and I wanted to hit him again and again, but Arnab rushed over and restrained me.

Just as I was about to land another blow, the police burst into the room and dragged Avid away, handcuffing him and reading him his rights. As they led him out, he turned back to me with a twisted grin and said,

"I tried to kill her, but unfortunately, she was saved by someone."

His words stopped me cold. What did he mean? Harin was dead, wasn't she? I felt a glimmer of hope amidst my rage and confusion. Could it be true? Was Harin still alive?

I looked at Arnab, searching for answers, but his expression was just as bewildered as mine.

Arnab halted the police, allowing me to ask Avid more questions.

"What do you mean she's alive? Where is she now? Who saved her?"

I demanded, my mind racing with possibilities.

Avid opened his mouth to respond, but before he could utter a word, a loud gunshot echoed through the room. Avid's head jerked back, and he crumpled to the ground, a bullet wound in his forehead. The mirror behind him shattered, sending shards of glass flying everywhere.

Arnab quickly shielded me from the scattering glass, his eyes scanning the room for the shooter. "Get down!" he yelled, pulling me to the floor. "We need to get out of here, now!"

I was in shock, my mind struggling to process what had just happened. Who had shot Avid, and why? And most importantly, where was Harin? Was she really alive? I looked up at Arnab, desperate for answers, but his face was grim and uncertain.

After the incident, Arnab took me to his office, where I saw him instructing the police to review the CCTV footage to identify Avid's killer.

I had more questions to ask, but Avid's murder had silenced him forever. I couldn't shake off the feeling that his death was connected to my inquiry about Harin.

Arnab tapped on my shoulder, breaking my train of thought. I turned to him, and he said,

"I had also asked Avid some questions earlier. I think you should know this - he mentioned having a brother named Aran."

Arnab's expression was thoughtful, and he continued,

"What struck me as odd was that when I asked about his brother, Avid showed no emotion or feeling. He seemed angry, almost... irritated. It didn't seem like a normal response when discussing a family member."

I listened intently, trying to piece together the puzzle. Avid's reaction to the mention of his brother seemed suspicious, and I wondered if Aran might hold some answers about Harin's disappearance and Avid's motives.

"You know, we'll be married soon,"

he said with a smile, his eyes gleaming with excitement.

"That old women's father will pass away soon, and his property will be mine. Then, we'll be happy together,"

he added, wrapping his arm around her waist and pulling her close.

The woman remained expressionless, her face a mask of indifference. She didn't respond to his words, didn't react to his touch. She simply stood there, her eyes fixed on some point beyond him, as if she was a mere spectator in this conversation.

The man seemed oblivious to her lack of enthusiasm, too caught up in his own joy and anticipation. He spun her around, his hands still grasping her waist, and pulled her into a tight embrace. But the woman's expression didn't change, her eyes didn't sparkle, and her voice remained silent.

It was as if she was trapped in a situation she couldn't escape, a prisoner of circumstances beyond her control. And the man, blinded by his own desires, couldn't see the emptiness in her eyes, the silence that spoke louder than words.
