Eric's POV:
5 Year's Later
As I stood nervously by the edge of the cliff overlooking the vast ocean, I couldn't shake the tremor of excitement that coursed through me. This spot held special meaning for both of us - a place we had discovered on one of our early hikes together, where the horizon seemed to stretch endlessly before us, echoing the possibilities of their future.
I took a deep breath, feeling the cool breeze brush against my face, and glanced down at the small box in my pocket. The ring inside was a symbol of my love for Hazel-a love that had grown stronger with each passing day, each shared moment, and each hurdle we had overcome together.
It had been a journey of laughter and tears, of late-night conversations and quiet moments of understanding. I had known for a long time that Hazel was the one he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. I had imagined this moment countless times-the way I would ask her, the look in her eyes when she realized what was happening, and the joy that would fill our hearts as we embarked on the next chapter of our lives together.
I had found my soulmate in her. I memorised the moments we had shared, from our first date to our adventures exploring new places, and the quiet evenings spent planning our future over. Our love had grown deeper with each passing year, anchoring them through challenges and celebrating their triumphs. I had known for a while that she wanted to propose, but I had waited for the perfect moment-the moment when everything felt right, so this is it.
When I finally saw Hazel approaching, her eyes bright with curiosity and anticipation, My heart skipped a beat. She wore a soft smile that lit up her face, and I couldn't help but awe at her beauty and the way she brought light into his life.
"Hey," Hazel said softly, her voice carrying across the distance between them. "What are we doing out here?"
I took a step closer, his hand reaching into my pocket to grip the box tightly. "Hazel," I began, my voice steady despite the butterflies in my stomach. "There's something I want to ask you."
Hazel's eyes widened slightly, a hint of realization dawning in her gaze. She stepped closer, her hands fidgeting nervously. "Eric, what is it?"
Taking a deep breath, I dropped to one knee, my heart pounding with a mix of nervousness and certainty. I opened the box, revealing the ring nestled inside-a shimmering symbol of our love and commitment.
"Hazel," I said, my voice trembling with emotion. "You are my best friend, my confidant, and the love of my life. Will you marry me?"
Time seemed to stand still as Hazel gasped softly, tears welling up in her eyes. She covered her mouth with her hands, her heart visibly racing as she took in the moment. I held his breath, waiting for her answer, my eyes never leaving hers.
"Yes," Hazel whispered, her voice filled with emotion. "Yes, Eric, I will marry you."
Relief and joy flooded through me as I slipped the ring onto Hazel's finger, our hands trembling slightly as they embraced. We stood together on the cliff's edge, our hearts overflowing with love and happiness, knowing that this was just the beginning of our journey as Mr and Mrs. Eric Vaughn."
As we watched the sun set over the horizon, casting a golden glow over the ocean, I knew in my heart that I had found my forever in Hazel.
