Eric's POV:
I sat behind the wheel, my hand comfortably resting on the gear shift as I stole a glance at Hazel in the passenger seat. We were heading to a quaint little restaurant on the outskirts of town for a quiet evening together, a rare moment of peace amidst our busy schedules.
The sun was setting, casting a warm glow over the landscape, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of contentment. Hazel looked stunning, her hair catching the last rays of daylight as she gazed out the window with a serene expression.
As we approached an intersection, I slowed down, my focus on the road ahead. Suddenly, a car ran a red light, barreling towards us with terrifying speed. My reflexes kicked in, I tried to swerved sharply to avoid a collision. The screech of tires filled the air, followed by a sickening crunch of metal.
Everything happened in a blur. I felt the impact jolt through the car, the world spinning around them. The next thing I knew, there were voices shouting, sirens wailing in the distance.
I woke in a daze, surrounded by the sterile white walls of a hospital room. My head throbbed painfully, but my first thought was of Hazel. He turned to see her lying in the bed beside me, Hazel's face pale but peaceful in sleep.
"Hazel," I whispered hoarsely, reaching out to gently touch her hand. She stirred awake slowly, her eyes fluttering open as she blinked in confusion.
"What happened?" Hazel asked, her voice trembling slightly.
"We were in an accident," I explained softly, his heart still racing from the adrenaline of the crash. "But we're okay. We're in the hospital."
Hazel's eyes widened in fear, and she squeezed his hand tightly. "Are we going to die?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
My heart clenched at the raw fear in her eyes. I shook her head firmly. "No, Hazel. We're going to be okay. We're going to make it through this."
I held her gaze, willing her to believe me. We had faced worst challenges before, but this felt different-this felt like a test of our strength and ourlove.
Suddenly, a strange sensation washed over me-a tingling warmth that spread from my fingertips to my toes. I glanced around the room, noticing a peculiar shimmer in the air. Before I could make sense of it, everything seemed to fade away.
When I opened my eyes again, I found myself lying in a familiar room-the cozy bedroom of Hazel's apartment. I blinked in confusion, trying to piece together what had just happened. Hazel stirred beside me, her eyes fluttering open as she sat up slowly.
"Eric?" Hazel murmured, her voice filled with sleepy confusion. "What's going on?"
Eric sat up, rubbing his eyes as he took in their surroundings. The room looked exactly as it always did, but something felt different-an inexplicable sense of displacement.
"I... I don't know," I admitted, my mind racing. "We were in the hospital, and now..."
Hazel's eyes widened as realization dawned on her face. "Eric, look at the calendar," she said softly, pointing to the date displayed prominently on the wall.
I turned to see the calendar hanging by the bedside. My heart skipped a beat as I read the date February 4, 2024.
"We... we made it?" I whispered, my voice filled with wonder and disbelief.
Hazel nodded slowly, tears glistening in her eyes. "We made it through everything," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "We made it through all the hardships and challenges."
We sat in silence for a moment, we had faced near-death together, experienced a surreal moment of time travel, and now, we found themselves here-safe, together, and stronger than ever.
I pulled Hazel into his arms, holding her close as they took comfort in each other's presence. We had been given a second chance, a chance to cherish every moment and build a future together.
"We made it," I repeated softly, pressing a kiss to Hazel's forehead. "And we're going to make the most of every day from now on."
Hazel nodded against my chest, her heart overflowing with gratitude and love. We had overcome the impossible, guided by their unwavering love for each other. As we sat together in the quiet of the morning, the sun casting a warm glow through the window, I knew that our love story was just beginning-a story filled with resilience, hope, and the promise of a future we had fought so hard to reach.
