Chapter 13

"I swear to god, I'm losing it. Can't someone, anyone, explain to me what the hell is going on?" Johnny asked as he looked around.

"Right? I've been in the future for a whole hour and I haven't even seen one jetpack. Not one!" the younger Johnny said sitting on a chair.

Aric watched the two with a look of disbelief, he was still trying to wrap his head around what happened. Then he heard the doors open and he saw Cassie and Raiden, or at least Past Raiden, walk into the room.

"So it is true." Raiden said as they walked. "I walked a darker path."

"After Shinnok went down, you became a different person." Cassie explained. "Red lightning, dark clothes and authoritian attitude adjustment."

Raiden nodded before noticing Aric stand a few feet away.

"Prince Aric?"

Aric turned to him and nodded at him with a neutral look.

"Good to see the real you back."

"You're here? But how....?" Raiden asked.

"Its a long story. I'll explain later." Aric reassured. "But you were in Outworld, right? Tyra and Mileena, are they alright?"

"Yes. They are, they helped us protect Kotal. I'm surprised how Mileena has changed, Shao Kahn was not pleased." Raiden said with a hint of a smile on his face.

"And Kitana?" Aric asked as he stepped closer. He had to know if she was back as well.

"She is in Outworld. She remained behind to combat Shao Kahn, Mileena and Tyra will be helping her."

Aric smiled, he felt a lot better now.

"By the way, what happened to Dark you." Johnny spoke up looking at Raiden. "How come you're an only child and I've got an evil twin?"

"As an immortal, I exist outside the normal laws of time." Raiden explained before looking at Cassie. "That could explain why I'm affected differently."

"Then what about Aric?" Johnny asked.

"I wasn't present during the tournament, Johnny. I was stuck in the Void during that time, that's why I have no double." Aric explained.

The others nodded at this, but Raiden tilted his head in confusion at Aric's words.

"An even longer story, Lord Raiden." Aric smiled as he sighed. "I'll explain everything later."

Aric then noticed the younger Sonya and Jax looking at them, he heard Sonya mention how Cassie was her kid and how she got with Johnny of all people. Aric smirked at this, she had no idea how deep their relationship was.

He then noticed Jacqui approach with Liu Kang and Kung Lao behind her, he then focused his attention back on the discussion at hand.

"Any thoughts on what we do next?" Cassie asked.

"For months, I have been receiving vague premonitions of the future. But none foretold this." Raiden said standing straight. "I must confer with the Elder Gods. Liu Lang, Kung Lao. Please assist the Special Forces while I'm gone."

"Yes, Lord Raiden." Liu Kang answered.

"Follow me." Jacqui said leading them away.

"Commander?" Sonya said as she approached Cassie and Aric by the table.

"Yes, mom. I mean General! I mean..." Cassie said in confusion, her mind still dealing with her mother's death just a few hours ago.

"This is strange for me too." Sonya said with a smile.
