As the night deepened, the environment in Sairat's room is thick highlighting the tension which was broken only by the ticking of the clock. The distance between the couple was almost tangible, an invisible barrier that neither of two seemed willing to cross. Virat lay on his side of the bed, staring at the ceiling, while Sai sat on her study table, her mind a whirlwind of thoughts and emotions.

The atmosphere was thick with unspoken words and lingering tension, making even the slightest sound seem amplified in the stillness of the room.

Virat closed his eyes, trying to silence the turmoil within him. He knew he had hurt Sai, and the guilt gnawed at him. But he felt trapped, unable to find a solution that wouldn’t hurt anyone involved.

Virat (thinking) : Haan janta hun ki main situation bhaag raha hoon, magar koi aur option bhi toh nahi hain, hain kya ? Sai ki baatein sahi hain, par main bhi toh insaan hoon, mere bhi apne limitations hain. Par kya yeh sab chod kar jaana sahi hai ?

His thoughts were interrupted by a soft sniffle. He turned slightly, catching a glimpse of Sai’s reflection in the window, her face streaked with tears she thought she had wiped away. A pang of guilt hit him, but his pride and frustration kept him from reaching out.

Sai, on the other hand, felt a mix of anger and helplessness. Her mind raced with thoughts of how to resolve the situation, not just for her, but for Virat as well. She knew the weight of responsibility he carried as the ideal son of the family, but his decision to transfer seemed like an escape, she understood it was also a plea for peace.

Sai ( thinking ): Mujhe kuch to karna hoga, mana vo jiddi aur gussel hain magar main Virat sir ko yun akela nahi chhod sakti. Woh jitna bhi strong dikhne ki koshish kare, unke emotions unpar troll le raha hain aur unhe bhi kiska sahara chahiye. Main yeh problem solve karke hi rahungi.

Despite her resolve, the frustration of feeling unheard and misunderstood by Virat only fueled her determination to act. She decided to speak to DIG sir in the hope of canceling Virat’s transfer, convinced that running away wouldn’t solve their issues.

- The Next Morning -

As dawn broke, the tension from the previous night lingered in the room. Sai quietly got ready for the day, her mind set on what she needed to do. Virat, sensing her movements, opened his eyes, watching her in silence as she prepared to leave.

Virat : (softly, trying to bridge the gap) Sai... kal raat ke liye... mujhe maaf kar do. Main nahi chahta tha ke baat is tarah bahar aaye. I am sorry jo saare din ka frustration aur exhaustion tumhare upar nikal diya ...

Sai ( was little taken aback yet composed herself before turning, her voice clipped with emotion ) : It's okay, Virat sir. I know kabhi kabhi dimag thak jaata hain, aaj apki weekly leave haina, aap rest kariye. Ab main chalti hoon, mujhe college ke liye late nahi hona hain ...

Sai left without another word, leaving Virat feeling both frustrated and helpless yet ting of guilt after remembering how many times Sai becomes the target of his anger and frustration knowingly. He watched her go, sensing that the gap between them was widening with each passing moment.

Sai arrived at DIG sir’s office, her resolve firm. She explained the situation to him, expressing her concerns about Virat’s transfer and how it might not be the best solution for their family issues.

Sai (politely but firmly ) : Sir, Virat sir is a dedicated officer, and his presence here is vital for both his professional and personal life. Mujhe lagta hai ke yeh transfer sirf temporary solution hai, aur main chahti hoon ki aap is transfer order ko reconsider karein.

DIG sir listened carefully, noting the sincerity and determination in Sai’s voice. He respected her courage and the effort she was putting into saving not just her marriage but also Virat’s peace of mind.

DIG Sir: (nodding thoughtfully) Sai, tumhari baatein sun kar lagta hai ki tum sach mein Virat ki wellbeing ke liye worried ho. Main is matter ko dekhta hoon, aur jo bhi best hoga, woh karunga.

Sai felt a glimmer of hope, grateful for DIG sir’s understanding. She left his office with a sense of satisfaction, though she knew the real challenge lay in addressing the unresolved tension with Virat.

- Back at Chavan Niwas -

Returning home in the evening, Sai found Virat sitting in their room, lost in the deep thought. He looked up as she entered, a hint of surprise and curiosity on his face.

Virat: (cautiously) Sai, tum aaj subh DIG sir se milne gayi thi subah subah, college jaane se pahle ?

Sai: (coolly, meeting his gaze) Haan,  main DIG sir se milne gayi thi. Main nahi chahti ke aap ek coward ki tarah transfer leke apni situation se bhaage just because aapse pressure handle nahi ho paa raha hain. Hum yahan mil kar problems solve kar sakte hain, Virat sir.

Her words were calm, but the underlying tension between them was evident. Virat was taken aback by her initiative, unsure of how to respond to her determination when he himself felt so conflicted.

Virat: ( defensive, crossing his arms )  Aur tumhe lagta hai ke DIG sir se baat karna solution hai ? Sai, har cheez itni aasan nahi hoti jitna tum samajhti ho ... Have you ever gone through the 1% of the mental trauma when you everyday tried to meet your family's expectations as an ideal child ?!

Sai: (firmly) Maybe I don't know what your mental condition is right now and DIG sir se milne se problem shayad aasan nahi hoti, par agar hum try bhi na karein, toh kuch bhi possible nahi ho sakta.

Virat turned away, frustration bubbling beneath his calm facade. The more they talked, the more he felt the walls closing in around him, their differences highlighted by the tension of the situation.
