Philomena's POV

I braced myself for the stinging pain, yet I didn't feel it. I clenched my fingers into a fist and opened one eye, prepared to flinch again. But instead, I saw my father holding her hand back and her glaring at his face.

"Father?" I asked, relieved.

"What do you think you're doing here?... Annora!" He roared when she didn't answer, glaring down at her.

"u-uh," she glanced down at me, stuttering and slightly laughing in fear. "This isn- this isn't what it looks like, I promise," she tried pulling her hand from his grasp, but he instead held her tighter.

I quickly bolted from under her. All of this was confusing. Why did she come for me? My father is a king. Doesn't that make me a princess? If I'm a princess, then why am I stuck in this tower?

I said, sobbing, "Father, what is going on!?" I couldn't stop myself from crying. Just yesterday, I was quietly reading a romantic poem and gazing out the window with the delusion that someone was watching me. Now I have this random woman barking down my throat; this is too much.

My father sighed but didn't answer. "Annora, leave...now!" he yelled and dragged her towards the door as guards began to rush into the room. They tried to escort her out, but she continued to kick, scream, and even punch a few guards. Some of the guards glanced at me and their faces blushed slightly red for some reason.

I quickly realized I was still on the ground, and so I propelled myself up, gaping at the scene.

When she finally left the room, my father spoke to one of the guards. "The Queen is to be confined to her room with only food and maids entering for...hmm...3 weeks," he ordered. I suddenly felt a worrying feeling in my chest. What if she blames me for this and comes back to get revenge or something? Yet, I still kept silent. I'm not just going to let her get away with what she did to me.

The guards continued to pull her out, despite her kicking and screaming. Once the door closed, I let out a sigh of relief. Is everything she said true?

I could feel my father's green eyes staring down at me, cold. But when I looked up, he had a smile on his face. Huh?

"Philomena...my daughter... I'm truly sorry; the guards often let...random crazy...people into the castle," he said while smiling.

What? Does he take me for an idiot?

"Um, Father, didn't you call her name? And you even told the guards to confine her to her. " I was interrupted.

"Honey, I don't know what you mean," he paused, glancing at the door. "I must go. See you soon, my beloved daughter," he rushed to the door.

I stood in place. Confused.
