Dad came and went, eating the food while talking to each other. I lied a lot about my first day of college, but that lie made them happy. I never wanted to be a burden on them, but I knew I was...

The next day arrived. Dad once again offered to drop me off, and I accepted. I sat in the car, looking outside, praying it would be a good day.

I got out of the car, and Dad left after saying goodbye. I clenched the bag straps, just like yesterday. I was still wearing loose clothes, but the only thing that changed was a mask. I wore a black face mask today, which I hid in my pocket until Dad left.

I walked inside my class, and the good thing was I arrived early today. There weren't many students there. I sat at my desk, took out some of my books, and started reading them. After some time, the students started coming, and at last, the professor arrived.

The lunch break arrived, and this time I stayed in my place. I folded my hands, put my head on them, and closed my eyes, thinking nothing but "hum..." I didn't want to see him-not today, not ever.

Third Person's POV

In the canteen, the sounds of throwing heavy things echoed...

"WHERE IS SHE?" Rhys shouted, throwing one of the benches in anger by kicking it. His friends just stood there, watching his madness over the new girl.

"FIND HER ANYHOW, OR YOU ALL WILL BE DEAD," he said in a loud, angry voice. Everyone gulped, and then suddenly, a voice spoke.

"I saw that girl in the classroom, senior."

Rhys quickly turned towards the voice and started taking heavy steps towards the person. The person, a small girl wearing large glasses with two long braids in her hair, spoke.

"Where?" Rhys asked again in a stern voice, making the girl gulp in fear.

"In the classroom..." the girl said.

"I ASKED WHERE IS THE CLASSROOM, YOU FUCKING BITCH," Rhys shouted suddenly, making the girl cry.

"RHYS, CONTROL YOURSELF," Max shouted quickly while pulling Rhys away from the girl.

"You all can go, leave quickly," David said, looking at the other students who were terrified by the scene.

"WHAT IS FUCKING WRONG WITH YOU, RHYS?" Max shouted in anger while looking at Rhys and pushing him a little.

"I FUCKING DON'T KNOW," Rhys shouted more loudly.

"Ok, ok, calm down. We will talk, ok?" David quickly blurted out, looking at his friend's outrage.

They all sat at the table and looked at each other. David was the one to speak up.

"Rhys, what's going on? Do you like that girl or something?" he asked.

"No, I don't, but didn't you see how fragile and terrified she is? It's just so mesmerizing," Rhys spoke, looking at David blankly while his eyes showed nothing but madness.

"You are not making any sense, Rhys. What do you want to do with her?" Max asked, getting impatient.

"I want to destroy her. I want to see the fear in her eyes, which is making me feel a different type of pleasure. I want to command her and punish her when she doesn't follow. I want to dominate her until she submits herself to me," Rhys said while looking at the window with a devilish smirk.

"Did you fall in love or what, bro?" Max asked.

Rhys chuckled darkly and looked at him. "Isn't she beautiful?" he asked.

Max and David looked at each other and then at Rhys before nodding their heads.

"And I hate beautiful things. I'm going to cut her wings and then smash them under my shoes until she dies. Because beautiful things don't deserve this cruel world, right?" he asked again while a smirk came naturally to his lips.

"Let's go. I can't wait to meet my butterfly."

Maya's POV

I felt someone's presence just beside me, so I quickly looked up just to see...

My deskmate. That boy who wore glasses yet still looked handsome. He sat quietly for a few seconds and then let out the words...

"Can I be your friend?"

My jaw dropped to the floor. What had just happened? I pinched my hand slowly while hiding them under the table, not wanting to embarrass myself if it wasn't real.

And yes, it was real.

"Let's go," he stood up, grabbing my hand, and I flinched at the sudden physical contact.

He removed his hand and placed it on his neck. His ears turned red, and I guessed it was embarrassment.

"I'm sorry, but I'm not fond of physical contact," I said in a slow voice while looking down. He hummed and said...

"I'm sorry, it's just..."

"Let's go." He cut the sentence in the middle and started walking. I didn't want to go outside, but I couldn't say no to him. So I followed him with slow steps.

We reached one of the rooms, and I quickly read the name... Library...

Finally, I found it. My introverted self would never have allowed me to ask someone about it, and now I was glad I followed him.

"Sit," he said before pulling the chair for me like gentlemen do, and I felt something tickle inside me.

He took out a book and placed it on my desk. It was a novel called Deeper Than the Ocean. As I started to read it, I found myself immersed in it, forgetting my surroundings. Slowly everything blurred; it was only me and the book now.

Until he came...
