Sorry cuties, this one got a little late...
"That's a good thing, Butterfly, because I don't want you to make any."
I sat still, staring blankly ahead.
Everything was going wrong. I shouldn't have left my house. I was better off at home, where life made sense.
But now... now he said he'd come to my home. The streets twisted and turned as the silence stretched between us.
He looked peaceful, while fear gripped me tighter.
"Butterfly, don't ever dare to disrespect my mom," he warned, his voice sharp.
A small "yes" escaped my lips.
"She likes you," he added, his tone softer.
"Okay," I murmured, not daring to turn my head towards him.
The silence swallowed us once again. My body grew colder with every thought.
The drive was long, but it felt endless today.
When we finally reached my home, relief washed over me like a cool breeze.
I exhaled deeply as he pulled the car to a stop on the side of the road.I quickly grabbed my bag, ready to escape, but before I could turn away, his hand shot out, grabbing my head and forcing me to face him.
His lips landed on my cheek, lingering far too long. My fists clenched, and I squeezed my eyes shut, willing myself to ignore the vile feeling crawling over my skin.
Finally, he released me, and without a word, drove off.
I let out a shaky breath, palming my face, rubbing away the tears that had begun to pool.
Slowly, I stepped into my house, greeted by the smiles of my mom, dad, and brother.
"How was your day?" they asked, their voices filled with warmth."Perfect,"
I lied, forcing a smile."I'll freshen up first," I said quickly, before running upstairs.
I tossed my bag onto the bed and rushed into the washroom.
Scrubbing my face with soap, I ran the water over my skin again and again, desperate to wash away the disgusting traces of his touch.
Once I was done, I slipped into my comfort clothes-a pair of loose black pants and a blue hoodie. Heading downstairs, I plopped down on the sofa with my family.
My little brother immediately laid his head in my lap, and I gently ran my fingers through his hair.
"How was school?" I asked, my voice soft.
"It was great! We're going on a picnic next Friday!" he exclaimed excitedly.
I chuckled and turned to my mom. "Is that true?"
"Yes, he's going to the zoo," she replied, laughing.
Finally my brother is meeting his real family , I said while laughing
He pouted and started whining. He complained endlessly, while Dad just nodded sympathetically, pretending to understand his exaggerated woes.
"You all sit. I need to make dinner," Mom said, and I nodded, watching as she moved towards the kitchen.
"I'm starving," I pouted. She pointed to the cupboard, where the snacks were, and my eyes sparkled.
I bolted over, grabbing chips and chocolate, and started eating happily.
My brother stared at me with wide eyes. "Mom, you didn't let me have any!" he protested.
"Because your teeth are bad," Mom said with a smirk.
I hummed in agreement. He had cavities, so no snacks for him.
We all sat watching TV until Mom called us for dinner.
We ate together, laughing and chatting, though a dark cloud lingered over me that I couldn't shake.
Back in my room, my heart began to pound again.
Pretending everything was normal was exhausting.I picked up my phone and dialed a number.
Kai.
His name flashed on the screen, and my fingers froze.
I glanced at the clock on the wall-it was eight.
Kai would still be in the office. I placed the phone back on the bed, deciding to wait until his workday was over before telling him everything.
I laid down, hugging a soft cushion, my mind swirling with the events of the day.
My stomach churned with unease.I was scared.
The way Rhys called me his captive... the way he touched me... it wasn't normal.
But I knew how powerful the Bernerd family was.
I had done my research. Rhys was just as ruthless as his father, and his parents adored spoiling him.
But I never imagined I'd meet them today, or hear the way Rhys claimed me as his.
Even now, the thought of him calling me "his" sent shivers down my spine.I had to tell Kai.
He needed to know everything.
With that decision, I closed my eyes.
And the next day came , I felt angry at my own stupity .
My heart raced with anxiety. Should I call Kai now?I hesitated.
It was still early, and he would probably be tired.
Maybe I should wait a little longer...
I got ready for the day, and just like yesterday, Rhys was there, leaning against his car, waiting for me.
"Get in," he said, opening the door.I slipped into the passenger seat without a word.
"You look beautiful in white, Butterfly," he commented, staring at me through the rearview mirror.
"Thank you," I muttered softly.I was wearing a white, oversized tee with matching pants.
But his eyes on me felt like daggers.I kept my gaze forward, feeling his intense stare burn holes into me.
Today, I didn't want anything to escalate. I would just silently follow his commands, hoping to avoid another scene.
