The sun had begun to set, casting a warm, golden hue over Miyu's cozy apartment. The soft light filtered through her sheer curtains, making the space feel even more inviting. Miyu had spent the afternoon organizing her sketches and reflecting on her new opportunity at Fashion Corner. As she put the finishing touches on a new design, she heard a knock on her door.
She opened it to find Miller standing on the threshold, a cheerful smile on his face. He was dressed casually in a black shirt and baggy jeans, his laid-back style reflecting his easygoing nature.
"Hey, Miyu," he greeted, stepping inside. "How's it going?"
"Hi, Miller," Miyu replied, closing the door behind him. "Come in. I've been meaning to tell you some good news."
Miller settled onto the sofa, glancing around at the cozy, pastel-toned décor. "Your place looks great. What's the news?"
Miyu sat down beside him, her excitement barely contained. "I had a meeting with Lana today. She offered me a freelance position at Fashion Corner! I'm going to be helping with new designs and working on some upcoming collections."
Miller's eyes lit up with genuine enthusiasm. "That's awesome, Miyu! I'm really happy for you. Lana's boutique is fantastic, and they'll be lucky to have you."
"Thank you," Miyu said, her cheeks flushing slightly. "I'm really excited about it. It feels like a great opportunity for me."
Miller leaned back, his expression thoughtful. "I'm glad you're finding something that makes you happy. There's just one thing I should mention, though."
Miyu tilted her head curiously. "What's that?"
Miller hesitated for a moment, then continued. "I wanted to let you know that Kali and I have a bit of history. We were more than friends at one point, but we decided to just stay friends after things didn't work out."
Miyu's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't known about Miller's past with Kali, and it explained some of the discomfort she felt during their meeting. "Oh, I see. Thanks for telling me."
Miller reached out and gently touched her hand. "I know it might be a little awkward, but I want you to know that Kali and I are just friends now. There's nothing between us anymore. I'm sorry if her presence made you uncomfortable."
Miyu appreciated Miller's honesty and the reassurance. "It did feel a bit odd, but I understand now. Thank you for being upfront with me."
Miller gave her a warm, reassuring smile. "Of course. I want you to feel comfortable and know that I'm here for you. If anything ever bothers you, just let me know."
Miyu nodded, feeling a bit more at ease. "I will. And I'm glad we had this talk."
They spent the rest of the evening talking about their day and sharing stories. As they chatted, Miyu felt a sense of connection with Miller, strengthened by his openness and support.
As Miller prepared to leave, he gave Miyu a gentle hug. "I'm really happy for you, Miyu. I can't wait to see what you'll do with this opportunity."
"Thanks, Miller," Miyu said, her smile genuine. "I appreciate your support."
Miller walked to the door, pausing to give her one last reassuring look before stepping out into the evening. Miyu watched him go, feeling a renewed sense of hope and excitement for the future. The day had brought its share of revelations, but it also reinforced the positive changes that were beginning to shape her life.
As she closed the door, Miyu felt a mix of emotions—contentment, relief, and anticipation. She knew there would be challenges ahead, but with Miller's support and her new opportunity, she felt ready to embrace whatever came next.
