The morning after the tense dinner, Miyu felt the weight of the previous night's events still pressing down on her. Determined to address the issues, she spent the day contemplating how to navigate the strained dynamics with Miller and his friends.
At Lana's boutique, Lana was visibly agitated. As she busied herself with the day's tasks, her thoughts were preoccupied with the drama from last night. When Miller walked in, she was ready to confront him.
"Miller, we need to talk," Lana said, her voice firm as she glanced up from her desk.
Miller braced himself. "I know, Lana. I'm sorry about last night. I didn't handle it well."
"That's an understatement," Lana replied sharply. "You let Anwar flirt with Miyu all evening. She was clearly uncomfortable, and you didn't step in."
"I thought it wasn't that big of a deal," Miller said, his tone defensive.
"That's exactly the problem," Lana said, frustration evident in her voice. "You should have seen it was a problem. Miyu needed you to stand up for her, and you didn't."
Miller looked down, guilt washing over him. "I didn't want to cause more drama."
"Well, you should have," Lana insisted. "Miyu should feel respected by your friends, and you should have made sure that happened."
"I understand," Miller said quietly. "I'll talk to Anwar and Kali. I want to fix this."
"That's a start," Lana said, though her expression remained serious. "But you need to show Miyu that you're committed to making things right. It's not just about saying sorry; it's about taking action."
Miller nodded. "I will. I promise."
Lana's mood eased slightly, though the previous night's frustration still lingered. She turned her attention back to her work, hoping that Miller's promises would lead to meaningful change.
Later, Miyu met Miller at their usual café. As she walked in, Miller looked up with a mix of apprehension and relief.
"Miyu," he said as she approached. "Thanks for meeting with me."
Miyu nodded, taking a seat. "We need to talk about what happened."
Miller took a deep breath. "I'm really sorry for how I handled things. I should have addressed Anwar's behavior and made sure you felt comfortable."
Miyu nodded, her voice soft. "I appreciate that. I just want to make sure this doesn't happen again."
Miller reached out and took her hand. "I've talked to Anwar and Kali. I want to make things right and show you that I'm serious about respecting you."
Miyu nodded again, her expression thoughtful. "Okay."
As they spoke, Miyu felt a tentative hope that they could work through their issues and strengthen their relationship.
By the end of their conversation, both Miyu and Miller felt a renewed sense of understanding. They parted ways with a commitment to addressing their challenges and moving forward together.
