Chapter 4: Sick

September 18th, 2009

I'm at Ash's house in her yard, waiting patiently for her to come out I ask, "Why isn't she coming out?"

"Why, do you have a crush?" Lily asked.

Heat creeps up to the back of my neck, but I stammered, "N-no I'm just worried about her."

"Oh my God, she doesn't come out one day, and you're worried sick, get real, she's probably sick." Lily scoffed.

"Probably." Sierra said, walking in the yard.

Jacob walked up to us and said, "Good morning."

"Good morning, Jacob." Lily said.

"Good morning." Sierra greeted happily.

"What's wrong with Ashlynn?" I asked.

Lily elbowed me in the stomach.

"Start a normal conversation." Lily said.

"She's been throwing up all morning, so I'm going to keep her home until she feels better." Jacob said.

Our jaws hit the floor.

"Anyways, let's hope she gets better in time for ReCon." Jacob said.

"What's that?" I asked.

"It's ReStream's first convention, it's similar to Comic Con, but for streamers." Sierra said.

"Yeah, and she's been invited, it's going to happen on the 24th." Jacob said.

"So have I." Sierra said.

"Just think of it as the WrestleMania, but for streamers." Lily said.

"Oh, I'm excited, does Ash have a match on the card?" I asked, with a bit of cheer in my voice.

"Yeah, in Mario Kart 64 against Matthias Rustemeyer, Ash and Matthias have been in a heated rivalry, and their versus showdown will happen on the 26th, in the third card." Jacob said.

We wave goodbye, as the bus arrives.

"Ashlynn's in over head." Lily said.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"Matthias is amazing at Mario Kart, not just amazing, he's a God at it." Sierra said.

"How far in is Ash?" I asked.

"She's swimming with sharks." Lily said.

"How did this happen?" I asked.

"So, Matthias took shots at Ashlynn, and Ashlynn casually broke into top 10 in Choco Mountain Non Shortcut, and took a shot of her own, this continued until, Tomo learned that there's going to be a Match against the two in Battle Mode at ReCon." Sierra said.

"About right." Lily said.

"She'll beat him, she's always beaten the odds." I said.

"Every time Ashlynn has had her back against the wall, she always did her best work." Sierra said.

"Why are you so worried, do you like her or something?" Alex, my rival, asked.

"Just a friend." I said.

"Wait, Ash's streaming." Sierra said.

"Final Preparations, for beating Matthias (Ft. a stomach bug)" it read.

We watched the video.

"So, you're in the Top 10 best karters on the forums, how do you feel?" Someone asked.

"Well, I'm not going to get an ego boost, it's simple, I'm okay, I'm a normal person." Ash said.

"She's humble, and Lazer focused." Sierra said.
