Accident

"Hey Rosie are you feeling ok?" I ask her while approaching her,I put my hand on her shoulder

"Yeah...."she sniffles like she's about to cry, she's always been emotional when coming to our parents death anniversary.It has been 10 years since we where kicked out into the street by our uncle.

*Flashback*

"Mommy I can't wait to see my little brother"8 year old me mattered excitedly while rubbing my mom's big tummy.

She was 34 weeks pregnant and was to the doctor's prediction and how the baby was healthy.

"I can't wait to be a big brother,and he is going to be my best friend since he's a boy....I don't like girls they are no fun. I'm going to teach him karate and play soccer with him". Aiden mattered while kissing mom's tummy. He was so excited to become a big brother and have another boy in the house except for him and dad.

"Ok....ok just don't get your little brother into trouble"My dad was a very muscular man,and judging by the way Aiden was growing it was evident that he is going to be as muscular as my father.

My parents were the true definition of love, they have been in love ever since they were in high school and became parents after completing their bachelors.My dad had a bachelor in IT specialist and hacking he is the mastermind of computers..... my mom had a bachelor degree in forensic science she was pretty fond of solving crimes and justice.

They were to opposite that attracted each other and their love was far much greater than their differences.

"Uhh babe....I think my water just broke!"mom winced as liquid started to come out of her core.

"Oh dear no...no...no...this isn't supposed to happen the baby still has two weeks left!!"dad carried her to the car and hurried to the hospital.

"Go to sleep babies mommy and daddy will see you when they come back"muttered Mary a woman in her mid forty's she had been their maid while their mother was pregnant with Rosalind.

"Is mommy gonna be ok?" I asked while heading upstairs to my bedroom with my teddy bear in hand.

"Yes mommy is going to be ok...in fact you all might see your little brother tomorrow on your birthday" she said with a smile on her face.

"Ohh in that case goodnight Mary... goodnight Aiden and good night Rosie "

"Goodnight Estelle"

*next morning*

"Estelle wake up....wake up it's our birthday"my twin Aiden had the brightest smile plastered on his face as he jumped up and down my bed.

"Happy birthday to us Aiden we are now 8 years old .... let's go see if the baby is here with mom"

As we make our way to my parents bedroom we where greeted by silence...they where not there,we started going through every door in the house and sill they were not there

"Aunty Mary did mom and dad come home today?"I ask while rubbing my now teary eyes.

"No sweetheart your parents didn't come home..... maybe they will come back before you little twins cut the cake "she smiles widely at us and stroke both me and Aiden's hair , Rosie just kissed our foreheads and wished us a happy birthday.

It had been 18 hours since we last saw our parents and it was now 15:45 pm meaning they went to the hospital yesterday at 22:30 pm at night .

"I think we should cut the cake stelle go and call your......."she was interrupted by a knock on the front door.".... who might that be?"

"Maybe mom and dad are back with the new baby"my excitement could be head as I jump up and down the couches .I was already picturing myself holding my little brother, helping my mom change his diaper,wash him and also feed him
It was going to be the first time I see a baby .

"Good afternoon ma'am is this the West residents?"a police officer asked Mary as he checks something on his paper for confirmation.....with him there was a female officer and my uncle John my father's brother and only relative we knew since my mom was an orphan who didn't know her parents .

"Uhhm yes ....but I'm afraid Mr and Mrs West are not in the house at the moment..."she seemed quite confused as us .

My uncle cleared his thout before adding"can we enter....this matter requires all the family members including the children "

"Ehhh...ohhh...yes please do.... I'll get the children "Mary rushed off to go get Rosie and Aiden before leading us to the living room where we found the police officers and my uncle sitted I was pretty confused to see police officers and my uncle....but my mom and dad where no where in sight.

Ma'am we have some bad news....you know Mr and Mrs West went to the hospital yesterday right?and they never returned?...well the reason they didn't return is because they were involved in a car accident.It was a hit and run and the only thing we found was a license plate of the truck that did the hit and run"the officer sighed as he handed Mary the license plate that was in a plastic bag.

"What!what did you just say?this can't be!"she muttered Shockley while putting her face in her palms Aiden, Rosie and I just stood there not understanding a thing....and the female police officer noticed this and approached us.

"Hey children"she spoke squatting down to our level and patting our heads with a little smile on her face.

"Hello"the three of us spoke at the same time.

"What are your names?"

"I'm Rosalind the big sister but everyone calls me Rosie "Rosie said with a wide smile on her face she is the type to trust people quickly and since the police officer seemed nice I think she could be trusted.

"I'm Aiden I'm going to be a big brother and this is my twin Estelle and today is our birthday "Aiden muttered happily he seemed to like the idea of being a big brother so much.

I just stood there with my golden brown teddy bear in hand I was a really shy kid and very quiet kid.

"It's nice to meet you all ...well my name is Sofia and happy birthday to you twins.....uhhm do you care for some sweets I have lollipops in my pocket if you want some"she smiled widely while taking out the lollipops she gave each one of us and we thanked her .

"Why are you here?"I asked my curiosity getting the best from me.

"Uhh well you see Estelle your parents won't be able to see you anymore because they were involved in a car accident......sooooo your mom and dad are in  heaven they wet there yesterday and are now with your little brother "she explained her smile fading away as she told us about how our parents are now dead and in heaven.

"Are you saying that mom and dad are dead?"I asked trying to confirm what I just heard

"That's not true mom told me that I will see her today with my little brother and she will let me hold her"Aiden whose eyes where now filled with tears could not believe a word the officer was saying.... Rosie looked pale like she's seen a ghost as she just stood there eyes wide open and mouth open as she doesn't know what to say or do she doesn't even know how to react to this.

"Uhhm....so this means that em.... I'm going to be your legal guardian after the Court finalize the papers I sent today and after we bury your parents which will be in five days....and uhhm Mary will have to leave since both the parents are dead"my uncle mattered and  silence filled the room after the shocking news we have just received  and only Aiden's sobs where heard .

Mary who was still processing the news couldn't believe that she no longer had a job and had to leave us behind because she was no longer going to be our guardian.
